Thanks man.. My machine just needed a good clean of the inflow to the Flowmeter.. now it's working again. I was about to buy a new 800 USD machine.. Saved those money thanks to you and one other YT channel :)
Great video thanks. My 3500 has made 25500 coffees + 6000 cappuccinos over 12 years. No maintenance other than cleaning and the front solenoid has now packed up. I broke the plastic hose connection trying to fix it but it still makes coffee but no steam. All the plastic is very brittle so im not sure it is worth fixing as it doesn't owe us anything. Would buy again when I have the cash.
Hi Robert. Excellent. Last night my Hubby tried to fixed our coffee machine. Delonghi ManificaEAM 3400.S, and accidental damage one of the wire next to the water boiler and circuit was short. Now he tried to turn on the machine nothing work. a red light on top of Menu light on for 2 seconds then off. The screen has light but blank. Thank you Robert
Thanks Robert. I don't use the milk capability on my 3500 as I don't like the temp or consistency of the milk after. Also keeping it all clean is a bit of a hassle. I purchased a Nespresso milk heater and frother. It has a magnetic driven whisk to froth the milk. My ESAM3500 will periodically lock up. It goes into a Self Diagnosis mode on power up and then shuts down. By using some of the things I learned from you I can put it into a diagnostic mode and play around with it. Unplugging and plugging back in a few times. Eventually it starts working again and stays working for a few weeks before going back through the same frustrating cycle. It has been a great machine otherwise. If I need to replace it though I will get the 3300 model as it has a steam wand to heat and froth the milk. I have purchased that model for family and friends who are very happy with it. But until then I'll use some of what I learned from you to keep my 3500 humming along. Thanks again.
Jerry Banks You are right on about the milk frother cleaning! I personally quite like the milk though that comes out of it. What happens with the Nespresso frother? Do you fill it with just enough milk for one coffee or just keep reheating and refrigerating? Thanks.
Robert Baohm It is best to do one at a time. If you put milk just to the top of the whisk and use the wire whisk spinner it will fluff up to the top of the Nespresso. I sometimes do not use either whisking elements and use it to heat the milk with no frothing. Before I repair the 3500 I'll likely just purchase a 3300 just to get the steaming wand.
Hi Robert, I am having a problem with my delonghi 4500 which is very similar to yours. My problem is I cant have milk froth coming out of the milk spout, but instead, lots of steam. The machine is super cleaned and works great otherwise. Espresso comes out, hot water comes out great. I just recently changed the coupling carafe with all new 3 o rings. I've got this machine from a seller in ebay that told me he only used it a couple of times and stored. When it arrived, I tested and worked fine for coffee. All buttons worked fine, the machine really looked like new. When I opened the machine sides and back to see inside, there were lots of dried grounds around it and I cleaned up carefully. I also have disassembled the milk jug lid and cleaned out, even though was not really dirty inside. Though, the milk jug lid came without the milk frothing adjustment, which is just something grey that slides back and forth for more or less froth. I don't know yet if the missing grey part can be the reason for the problem, but when I try to froth milk I even have held a cloth in that spot where the grey sliding thing would be, but makes no difference. Also, when disassembling the milk jug lid I noticed that one black o ring that was on the spout was broken (which I replaced) and there was only another little red o ring that you can see when you press the clean button. No more o rings in the milk top cover just a couple of springs. The milk jug works when I press the clean button for cleaning out the spout with steam. But no milk froth comes out, just lots of steam coming from the milk spout when I try frothing milk. Do you think the milk jug cover is the problem? Do you know if there is any other o ring in the milk carafe cover that I am missing? Help would be greatly appreciated.
Cindyc Tate hi. Itsbeen a while since ive had that apart but id guess you need the grey sliding part in there. It regulates the amount of milk. You mighy have to buy the whole lid to get it though. Good luck!
Yes, I think your right. There is visibly nothing else wrong with it and in test mode everything sounds good. Im going to have to buy it and give it a try. Would rather to know it for sure before spending almost $100 on the new milk jug, but have to do it. Will let you know if that will work and hopefully more people would benefit from the information. Thank you so much for your advice. :)
If steam and hot water works but not frothing, it could be the coupling carafe is partially blocked, you either try remove the coupling and clean it, or replace with a new one, it maybe not just the three orings on it
Do you know what the soft larger diameter hoses are in the machine? I can't find replacements and no description of them either. Specifically the ones that supply from the reservoir to the pump
Hi Rob. Have you had any water leaks when you push the hot water button and water sprays out the hose which is connected to the solenoid at the back. It the one that has the lines going from the thermoheater. Tried to re-melt the end to seal but no luck. Any suggestions
Thanks Robert for the video. My machine throws most of the coffee not in the coffee tray. So as a result when I open the machine it is all over used coffee inside. Any idea how can I fix it?
Thanks so much for this thorough review. I also received my Magnifica from a friend and performed a complete cleaning and lubrication of the infuser assembly and transmission, full wipe down, and vacuuming but the machine would still report a Generic Alarm even without running the self-diagnosis and I successfully ran all functions in Load Test Mode, Display Test Mode, and Counting Mode. Finally, I was able to get a delicious double serving of coffee after leaving the coffee maker unplugged overnight. Then after about 20 minutes, the display once again read Generic Alarm and I'm back to where I started with a non-functioning machine. Any other suggestions to troubleshoot?
Question for the experts...I have the Magnifica. It will pull single shot but not double. Pump sounds normal at start and quickly gets quiet with nothing coming out. I replaced pump with oem after 3 complete descaling procedures made no difference. Hot water and steam works good. Water comes out of espresso nozzles at startup and shutdown. I fully cleaned and lubricated the plunger assembly (even that plug and tiny hole below screen). No signs in tubing of scale buildup. I am at a loss. Any suggestions? Thanks!
Good day. I have a DeLonghi ECAM23460S. The display shows "water circuit empty please fill water circuit." Any advice would be much appreciated. Took the back cover put and the tube that connects to the tank is dry. No water is even reaching the flow meter. The machine is new, but I don't have warranty or a way to return it. Thanks in advance!
Hi mate, I have the same machine and have now started experiencing where the water keeps coming into the drip tray when making coffees. It still comes out of the spout but a portion of clean water keeps coming from the main group in the middle somewhere. It leaks inside the the actual machine (black plastic). Have you had any issues with water leaking in the drip tray whilst making coffee? Thanks in advance if you respond.
Hi Rob, thanks for the video, I have this machine as well, 2009 model and the only issue to now was the machine wasn't recognising the full water tank. This was fixed by replacing the reed switch (which can be seen in your vid). My new issue now... Coffee doesn't come out the spout, it drops directly into the drip tray. Have you had your machine apart enough to guess my current issue? Also, I've used website big warehouse spares (in Australia) for the reed switch. Cheers
Paul Smith Hi Paul. Sorry but I'm not familiar with that issue. Split hose? Missing the clip that secures the hose in a valve? Be sure to post the solution when you work it out to keep building the knowledge base.
Thanks for the info I just scored one of these from my local recycle center for 5 bucks only problem is the steamer doesnt work nothing comes out at all all i hear is the pump buzz.
Hmm I tried the diag mode and only 1 solenoid clicks ev1 (small cup button) doesn't click. Is that the solenoid responsible for turning on and off the steam?
Sorry can't tell you that detail. I followed the lines back from the pump until I found the blockage. it was under the front panel. I can't remember if it was the inlet or outlet to the valve I dropped off but once I had done it away it went!
@@Discoworx Hi, got the same here no milk or hot water just pump running, by "blocked" do you just mean chalk or dirt in the hose? or could it lose some pressure somewhere? thx in advance. brett20000000009, did you got it fixed in the mean time?
Hi Rob, great video! thanks for sharing. I had a similar issue "coffee is too fine and insert water spout" I checked the pump and I believe it is fine I am now going to check the solenoids. In your video above you mentioned you changed the front solenoid. How did you determine which solenoid was faulty? and where did you buy this from? Cheers, David
Hi Robert, I also have a Delonghi Magnifica 3500 and it produces the best coffee ever. Mine machine is now about 12 years old and has worked perfectly up until now. It still makes a great coffee but the coffee grounds now do not get put into the removable container, some get there, but most get dumped directly down to the right(which is the centre of the internal workings. Do you know what causes this? Many thanks Di
I have a Generic Alarm issue. Goes through its diagnostics OK then displays the Generic Alarm. Something I have noticed is when this is displayed only half the warming tray on top is hot. Any ideas would be welcome.
Hi Rob, great video 👍🏼 I recently purchased one on these second hand and keep getting ‘GENERIC ALARM’ come up on the screen. No idea where to start any advice would be greatly appreciated would love to make a cup of coffee some day soon with it
Lil_Manda Burgess quite possibly a thermofuse on a heating element. There are 2 fuses (white ceramic things with 2 wires each) on each of the elements (I think also called thermoblocks). Pull a wire off each one and check with a multimeter. More info and parts from these guys outwestcoffee.com.au/index.php/2017/07/30/how-to-test-the-fuses-and-elements-in-your-delonghi-coffee-machine/
I would try and bridge the magnetic water level sensor out. After that it could be a faulty board. Have a crumpet and a cheat day whilst you're at it 🤣
Hi Robert, thank you for all the information. I have a Delonghi ECAM 23.460 and when I turn it on as well as when I turn it off, it makes a loud noise that I guess it comes from the brew unit. Do you know what could it be? best regards!
Ezequiel Cappellano sorry no. I'd have a look at bypassing the switch that tells the unit when the door is open so you. Can operate the machine and have a look inside. Good luck.
Hi Robert hope you or anyone else can help i have a ESAM4500 grinder not grinding long enough any more only 1 or 2 seconds , working ok on preground coffee , saw another tiny bit of a video where the man reckoned it could be the hall sensor failure on the bottom of the transmission and that puts the machine into a safe mode only grinding for a second . have you ever come across this problem ? and if you think it is this sensor is it possible for me just to change it out ? love your video by the way
Hi Robert very helpful video could you please let me know where can get the information about getting into diagnostic mode or where I can get the service manual. Thanks a lot.
I'm having a problem with my generator I've tested ohms and there fine and it was heating but after a while showed general alarm so took advise and changed the thermal fuses now my general alarm comes straight away tested all with multimeter and all good but no heat what would you suggest trying now please I'm now demented with this lol
I am having trouble with water running out-of the frother rather than adequate volume through the coffee infused. Can't seem to see where the problem lies or how to fix it. Any suggestions?? Thanks. Jim
The frother is for the milk? Sounds like a seperate issue than volume of water for the coffee. You can program for volume of water. Maybe the element is gone for the steam?
Lauri, I'm having "your" problem. Water streams out the frother/wand, but nothing from coffee spout(s). The used coffee puck that is kicked into the garbage tray, is completely dry - meaning no water was pushed through the infuser. Did you figure it out? Steve
Hi Robert. I have snapped a piece off the steam switch on my Magnifica S Plus. Any ideas how I can remove/replace the switch itself? Any help will be gratefully received. James.
I haven't had this machine for a few years. There will be a switch that gets activated probably at the top near where the steam comes in. If you can find it try joining the wires together. Good luck!
Currently got a water flow problem, I've pulled it apart and there is flow right up to the pump, but not after so I'm assuming its a blockage or the pumps not working. I've turned it on and nothing comes out the otherside of the manifold above the pump. Any idea what it would be? (Error is something like No water)
Hello. I want to ask for help .... grinder grinds very long time. Crumble a lot of coffee. They are set to a minimum. Koffee puck is roughly 3-4 cm. Can you please help me
hey Robert Baohm, thanks for this video, its exactly what's wrong with mine, but I'm not brave enough to give it a go, I'm on the Sunshine Coast Queensland, any recommendations as to where I might take mine to have it repaired? kind regards Pete.
ThePeetsee c'mon Pete, have a go! The stainless ball I got was no good and got stuck after 4 days of no use. I got this plastic ball on eBay www.ebay.com.au/itm/161858561864 It's not a hard fix. Who knows, this may be the start of a new era of DIY for you! If you're half keen I keen help via Skype.
Have the same model when I turn it on it will do everything right up till you try to use the streamer it makes clicking noises and doesn’t push out steam or even water. Can you point me in the right direction how to fix the issue. I’m very good at fixing things but don’t want to replace a part that doesn’t need replacing. I’m thinking it’s the generator!?!?
True Natural Healing if both water and steam not working, it could be the inlet side of solenoid valve EV1 that’s blocked, while the solenoid itself still works (as you’d mentioned that it still clicks). You’ll need to find a way to unblock it, firstly, you may reverse the connection by swapping the two cables connecting that solenoid, this could be a quick way to agitate and loosening particles causing the blockages. Alternatively, you need to find way to identify and locate blockages, and flush it out. In my case, the EV1 is totally stuck, to a point where there’s no clicking sound at activation in test mode (despite voltage is detected with multimeter), i flushed mine using 100% vinegar, till it starts clicking again.
Hi Robert! I have an Esam 4500, almost the same machine, and the brewing unit cannot be removed anymore. Pushing the two red tabs and pulling at the unit doesn’t work. Any ideas? Thx from the Netherlands.
Switch machine off, unplug power, pull out drip tray. Use torchlight look at bottom right corner of brew unit, you’ll see a tab. With the use of a long flat head screwdriver, push tab towards the right, brew unit will be released.
Hi, I can read on my esam 3500 general disorder. I started the machine, and it takes a lot of time to heat up. After a while General disorder came up, and nothing goes on. 😏 The machine is maybe 10 years old. Of course no guaranty 🙈 Can you help me please? Do you have any idea? Thanks ands greetings
My machine died some time back and I now have a small unit that just takes preground coffee and it makes great coffee. I recommend you throw the old unit away! I will make a video on making great coffee with these small units.
Hi Bill. Firstly pull the lid apart and give it a good clean. It may be blocked. Secondly try replacing the O rings on the nozzle the frother slides on to. Best of luck!
I just fixed this problem over the weekend, it’s the water heater exchange unit. It clogged up with lime, I used a strong picture hanger cable from Home Depot and push thoughts.
Hi all. I have a De'Longhi Machine that is flashing all the lights on the front, and the inffuser is not coming out. however when i switch it off completely and on again it is not going through the correct shutdown and reset procedure as it used to. So therefore i am not able to get inffuser into a position where i can remove it and make sure it is seated correctly. please if anyone has experienced this and has a suggestion please let me know.
