I always let the vinegar sit in the brewer for 30 mins then run at least a whole reservoir full of water through it to really rinse it. If you don’t your coffee will taste like vinegar.
Good video though I would like to mention that your first cup of coffee post cleaning probably wasn't because you didn't clean it enough. Plastics and metals are very absorbent of what was brewed in it. You can really taste those residual flavors, especially with cleaning chemicals and vinegar. I would recommend running a pot or two of coffee through it after cleaning. Old coffee you don't want is perfect. We call this "seasoning" the machine. All professional specialty coffee baristas do (or should do) this after every brewer and machine cleanings. Side note (for validity): I was in the Seattle specialty coffee scene for 10+ years. Trained by barista champs and SCA judges, the best of the best.
Domesticengineerdad Had a pretty good video on how to descale. He shows U how to turn off the auto so it can sit for a few. I enjoyed Ur video cuz U where in it & had fun with showing how. Thank You for sharing this video ❤‼
@@HeresWhyILikeIt I have a 2.0 K500 my kids got me for Christmas 2018. I never descaled it. I changed the filter on Christmas 2019. I always cleaned my coffee pot with vinegar. But this thing I had no clue how. Every time the clean thing came up I ignored it 😂. Till it started making noises & was slow. I Googled how to clean it with vinegar & Ur video came up. I like the fact U had fun with this made it less intimidating. But I must say I started doing this at 7am & I'm still cleaning it. But since I haven't done it in like 1 1/2 yrs, ya, still cleaning. I'm running it through every cycle. 12cup strong, 12cup regular, 12cup Hot Chocolate/Other, & 12cup Hot Water. Someone else on the other video comment stated theirs just stopped dripping after the first cup. I think calcium deposited may have clogged it. So, I'm running every cycle to make sure it's cleaned out really good. I noticed the Hot Water one really flushes the lines fast. Just wanted to share what I'm doing & how well it's going. We're not born knowing everything & some of us get so busy with life. We truly appreciate ppl like U taking time to make a video to help others & answering comments. I'm that special person, or something 😉😁🤗 (ya, I read that, was going to state something but U nailed) Thank You Again & God Bless ❤‼
@@ruthdandrea9829 What a nice Christmas present from your kids! It sounds like you're doing a great job troubleshooting it and hope your coffee tastes perfect soon. And aw thank you so much! That's really nice of you to say!! You too!
I don’t even own a Keurig and I watched until the end. Did it taste terrible because you didn’t pour out the little bit of vinegar at the bottom of the reservoir?
Suggested in Keurig coffeemaker instructions online .use filtered or bottled water only., Not distilled or reverse osmosis water. ( which I was using) Don't know why.
Probably cuz distilled water has no calcium or minerals so U won't need to descale the coffee maker. Got to make money some how only way is to try & get U to buy their stuff.
It is 30 minutes if you use the official Keurig solution, around 40 minutes if you use vinegar. I normally use the Keurig solution but I don’t have any right now so I am using vinegar right now.
Why don't you just run the machine with vinegar until the water comes out the sprout and shut it off and let that descale sit in the lines so it can do the job I would rather use vinegar than the harsh expensive chemicals that give you cancers vinegar and lemon juice is natural acid. Ido me descaling at bedtime and let it sit overnight or after I'm done using my Keurig and let it descale from1 to two hrs
Hi, this is using only vinegar instead of harsh chemicals. As for the process, that is what was recommended after researching different methods. Don't let me stop you from trying your way, though!
I got a keurig too in sandy pearl, but it’s so... dark, it almost looks beige. 😩 Yours looks so white. I wanted mine to be slightly off white, but is definitely not! Ugh! Lol!
@@daakrolb You're right, I never answered the question about the material! Sorry! It is glass. The website says "made of long-lasting, heat-resistant borosilicate glass, heatproof to 675 degrees Fahrenheit."
Thanks I needed this video! I’ve been using a coffee pot since my keurig needs cleaned. I just subscribed to your channel. Would love to be RU-vid friends ❣️
I haven't descaled mine since my kids got it for me for Christmas 2018. It's a 2.0 It's getting slow & I can hear it needs done. So, if ya want to know how long U can wait, about 1 1/2 yrs with an average of 4-5 cups a day. Ur welcome 😁(oh & that's tap water too no filters. Changed the charcoal filter Christmas 2019)
@rumi nova38 Thanks! Since last year when I said I do it every 6 months, I find myself doing it more often. My Keurig tells me when it's time, too. Probably about every 4 now!
Hey man, why would you even post something like this? Personally, I've got large hands that like to break everything they touch. I've broken an Adams peanut butter jar unscrewing the lid before. It just exploded in my hand. This video helped me take apart my machine w out breaking it 😂
