This video could be titled
HOW TO DESENSITIZE A HORSE TO 600 PEOPLE CLAPPING
Or it could be called
WHY I DON'T DESENSITIZE HORSES ANY MORE
It shows a horse at Equine Affaire in Columbus Ohio last weekend, that has a history of wanting to go too fast under saddle. When I started working with her it became obvious to me that she has no off switch, that once activated she can't reset herself (she can't spit out her own rabbits).After working with the horse through communicating my awareness, and working on her focus, at the end of the session she stands still while the whole crowd claps. No clap desensitizing needed.

that rooster wants to be in the video too ;) it's true all that you say. I'm helping with a 7 year old mare who had a rearing-running like crazy-rearing-running- ect....-pattern as soon as sth concerned her, and that could be anything, the wind, the leaves, people talking, a wide field (don't go there) ... her 'normal' state was 11rabbits, like all the time... anything could be the last rabbit she couldn't take anymore. Then we startet to connect - A HUGE THANKS to you for sharing all this wisdom - it helped a big deal :) We got rid of all these assembled rabbits. She's getting down to zero when i help her relax, her usual state is 1-2 rabbits now ;) we're getting there... She's getting calmer and more at ease with herself and everything. Lately we were out in the woods (just going for a walk) and some other horse panicked a little right next to her for unknown reasons - all she did was move her hindend away from me and turned her head towards my head - almost touched me. When i just stood there she relaxed at once and waited calmly what would happen next. The other horse still fidgeting... All your videos REALLY REALLY helped develop my own understanding and consciousness :) So thanks again and HAPPY EASTER :)

I finally got the WS app. It is so worth the money! The RU-vid videos helped but the app is even more helpful. It guides me through the process in a more systematic way. Used the RU-vid for 2 years and it changed me and my horse for the best we’ve ever been. Thank you Warwick and Robyn for what you are doing!

Been awhile since I watched you… my loss!! Glad to see you and I always respect your knowledge and kindness to the horses you work with… sending love, peace, and health to you and your family. We are blessed to have you teaching us how to be civil and work with our horses like they count, not like they are servants to be abused❣️🥰🌟☮️🕉🙏🏻

Great video------as always. It explains what to do with a concerned horse before the horse escalates. And, lol at Mr. Rooster. Mr. Rooster is saying "if you're not going to film me, you're sure gonna hear me." 😂

How to desinsitize a horse to anything. 1: connect mind with feet 2: build connection to you ~ trust 3: learn the horse to find inner balance on its own (see step 1) 4: repeat with stimilus 5: solved...

One of my mares is what I call "the look out mare". The other two can be sleeping or eating and she'll be the one to be standing around looking out. Or walking around every so often to check things out. I've been working on our connection and showing her that I'm just as capable of looking out for things as she is, so that she'll trust me. Now I'm not saying that isn't a good thing to do but I did get to wonder if that was what was really going on. Maybe I was showing her that I was "nervous". But maybe her looking out is more along the lines of her mind and her feet being in two different places? Doesn't hurt to check that out. Thanks for yet another way of seeing what my horses are telling/showing me.

Did the horse in the arena behind you have sunglasses on????

You can never desensitize horses to everything they'll ever encounter, so all you need to do is expose them to anything that gets them "up" and then teach them how to get back "down", and relax. As Warwick shows here. This method can then be used for any other scary or exciting things they encounter

Hello from Brazil! It's incredible the perception you have of horses and the way you make them interact calmly with everything that previously scared them. Thanks for sharing.

What is the bay wearing on his eyes in background? They looked like sunglasses or goggles. Is it because he has the white face, pink around his eyes?

This horse looks like she barely has a top line, so basically could struggle with having enough strength to carry a rider and be relaxed at same time. My OTTB was like this. Complete basket case until we got his back up. Art2ride has great content on developing topline via foundational classical dressage methods, but works super well for all disciplines,. Lunging with loose side reins in a basic double jointed loose ring snaffle, and getting them to stretch long and low, relaxed and rhythmic at walk, then trot, then canter and never progressing up until the horse masters the lower gaits, helps lift the back and grow the muscle and create a cadenced and relaxed horse.
@WarwickSchiller
@WarwickSchiller 2 года назад
That could be it, except for the fact she was the same on the ground as the owner said she is under saddle, once going she cant stop...
@tropicaoptica
@tropicaoptica 2 года назад
@@WarwickSchiller yes my ottb was like that on the ground as well. Moving hollow on the forehand with their head up in the air can be really uncomfortable and anxiety creating, rider or no rider. Of course what you are doing here is beneficial and important, but to me developing the top line would also greatly help any horse especially ones like this to relax, on the ground and in the saddle. It certainly helped mine.

@@tropicaoptica its also why stall kept horses are so poorly developed.. hours of grazing and walking is the very lowest level of fitness.. I can still see videos in my mind of mustangs trotting or running , but not in fear, and you can see how they use their bodies better.. the better conformed horses have an advantage as well. I am a fan of Art2Ride as well.. but few people commit the time to rehab.. too many "well known" trainers and riders have no knowledge of that basic issue about the back. I started watching Warwick because his young horse moved better than most dressage horses and it was obvious they used themselves correctly. I think Warwick is politely saying the horse needs to know how to relax mentally before he can use himself properly.. same tools, different timing of when to use.. and that is depending on the horse and the person's knowledge and skill of use.. I think using Warwick's mental methods in conjuction with A2R is a super combo. Complete Training of Horse and Rider was/is my horse bible.. I do know what A2R says about it.

@@audreye7078 thats exactly what Im saying. Trying to "develop a topline" on an anxious horse is a lesson in frustration
@audreye7078
@audreye7078 2 года назад
@@WarwickSchiller I am absolutely blown away by how quickly you are able to reach their minds and bring them relief. How much of that do you attribute to your own awareness of the horse's mental/emotional state and your own thoughts of care for their well-being versus the skill in recognizing a "response" and applying the "tool" skillfully.. I ask, because I am convinced horses are far more perceptive of our mental/emotional state towards them than we realize. The trouble some people comment about in using your techniques, I think are proportional to their mental/emotional state re their horse. Is that an accurate assessment? Thank you for your work. It is heartwarming to see how you help both horse and person.

Warwick, I had a exchange a while ago with one of your viewers and I wasn't satisfied I'd held my pov - it doesn't matter except that so may horses suffer and different approaches aren't necessarily 'not good enough', so I want to post my reflection here in case your viewer sees it - obviously delete it if you feel it is best, I totally understand. I'll post this: Warwick covers all bases in his training and that is solid top to bottom. Having recently found this meditation - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-IsuOHfLW08Q.html (awareness of your mind and perception and awareness as the quantum field, at the point between waking and sleeping (where the interior and exterior life meet) put together with your energy resonance at point of innocence/entry (before you adapted), I feel Mia accesses this sort of approach with horses ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dDVE1h3H9xI.html
