you can use them as well. AS1684 and 4055 are a simplification of those standards that we learn at uni. They have limitations though. It only works for certain types of structures like houses

Sou Gabriel haha. Usamos bastante I-joists sim. Elas sao mais baratas normalmente. A variacao de altura e feita com joists mais baixas. Diferentes tamanohs sao usados.
