How come we didn't have to use AS 1720.1 or any of the limit state design procedures taught in uni?

you can use them as well. AS1684 and 4055 are a simplification of those standards that we learn at uni. They have limitations though. It only works for certain types of structures like houses

Bruno, na Austrália usam bastante as I-Joists? quando tenho uma região de banheiro nesse caso, como é feita a variação de altura do piso para áreas molhadas e as transições para varandas? Obrigado

Sou Gabriel haha. Usamos bastante I-joists sim. Elas sao mais baratas normalmente. A variacao de altura e feita com joists mais baixas. Diferentes tamanohs sao usados.
