This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. If you had 30 days to live, how would you make the most of your short time left? It’s a trick question. How we experience time is not based on the ticking of the clock, but rather, by the moments that are so out of the ordinary that we perpetually remember them. These moments mark our lives, and through creating them every day, we can effectively live decades longer.
John has been chasing time since he was very young, trying to compress more activity (meters, laps, miles, transactions, data) into less time. Since age 8, John has competed in over 4000 bike races over a 30+ year racing career, including a top ten finish in the world cycling championships. John also spent a decade on the national speed skating team, competing in 9 world championships, winning 3 world medals, and winning a silver medal in short-track speed skating at the 1994 Winter Olympics. John now serves an expert commentator for NBC Olympics every four years.
Recently, John joined Maddock Douglas, an innovation consultancy, where he leads their innovation leadership development practice, guiding senior executives into the mindsets, practices, skills and toolsets required to be leaders of the future.
