"Do your best. Never give up. If at first you don't succeed, try again." We often heard these platitudes form coaches and parents, and then repeated this summer from the Olympians in London. But what if these lasting words of wisdom are all wrong? What if they are all narrative fallacies told by those lucky enough to have stumbled upon their strengths?
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

Thank you, it's actually great to hear someone tell you it's ok to quit. Get so tired of people telling us to persist all the time. It's also good to know when to stop pursuing something that's making your miserable.

Does it seem mumbly and soft? Some parts at the end of sentences seem to fade.

Hoping everyone - and I do mean everyone - follows @MaddockDouglas on Twitter. The people there (like John Coyle) are game changers.

What does this say about our primary and secondary education systems, which are focused on addressing weaknesses, while ignoring strengths. We have an educational paradigm that strives toward mediocrity.

I dont like the way he put this...you have to use your instincts,, know what you are capable of and try your best at it if it makes you happy. you might get lucky. some of us are naturally gifted and some of us aren't. just roll the dice and try but don't be an idiot about it. you need some degree of natural capability.
