Almost anyone can paint walls white. Rooms only become really elegant when they are decorated with a brush and spatula. Master craftsmen Stefanie Teichert and Marcus Hesmert from Rech an der Ahr show how walls can be given a personalized look and sometimes even a healthier indoor climate with just a few tricks in two houses that are being renovated after the flood.
The two trained church painters like to use a lime-marble plaster in their everyday work. With this filler, they can give a simple plaster wall a modern concrete look. The lime also absorbs moisture and thus prevents the formation of mold. The pair of craftsmen also show how a simple perforated break helps them when large motifs are to be painted on a wall. This creates personalized room designs instead of a standardized white look.
