In this Sixty Second Tutorial we look at a simple method to Desqueeze the 1.6X Sirui Anamorphic Footage into DaVinci Resolve
1. Firstly, if your anamorphic footage is added to a standard 16x9 timeline, left click on your clip to select it and then open the inspector window.
2. In the Transform window you first need to click to turn off the linking control between the X and Y Zoom Controls so that you can change their value separately.
3. Then you need to modify the Y control to 0.635.
4. Your 1.6X Sirui footage will now display correctly.
5. Unfortunately as 1.6 is a family uncommon ratio, most editing softwares will not have a built in option to batch change all your footage.
6. The quickest way to desqueeze multiple clips is to add them all to your timeline, then left click on your first desqueezed clip and select 'copy'.
7. Now select all your remaining clips, right click and choose paste attributes.
8. A new window will open and here you need to select 'Scale Y' option and then hit apply, which will apply the same desqueeze to all your clips.

How did you do the math? 1/1.6? Isn't it .625?

Maths never was our strong point. Probably why everything comes out in 4:3!

@@BenandJackStudio Sorry, I don't quite understand. It's pretty minor .625 and .635. But I'm curious if that's how you calculated the amount of squeeze to use. Did you just use 1/(1.6) ?

@@enrichtI am also interest to know how you do to get 0,635. It works perfectly but I want to understand more . Please give us your math method .

@@GrandPoune Oh they used .635 zoom...... whereas I got .625 which is.... 1 divided by 1.6 = .625. Curious how they came up with .635. It's a MINOR thing.... only a 2% difference. But wanting to know the formula for calculating squeeze.
