Very Very good tips...mostly.. *Taking a break *lower stakes *and try to book a small win...small small wins at the time.. I wish I knew and understand them tips when I started playing
Im going to be honest here with a little secret sauce: if you are battling stronger ranges with a whole bunch of nits ur gunna need to smash them with lower suited connectors and other weird little hands that can make certain monsters. I coin the smaller connected suited gappers and weird hands the "Gorilla hands" but beware you can get burnt by stronger ranges with better made hands so just be wary.... "gorilla hands" are a great way to beat up opponents who can't fold their strong hands over pairs on seemingly unconnected boards etc. I gamble att leeeast 1 or 2 hands of pure magic in my sessions and im going to be honest poker truly pays the best when you are simply doing some bullshit like being on the side of cracking aces vs slow playing your aces just to get cracked by the river etc...
No need to go to 1-2 just reduce your Vpip, play shorter sessions, once up, and you go card dead, leave and come back the next , wins add up, so does your bank roll
The drop in stakes suggestion is more of a confidence builder than anything. Just a quick session or two to get that confidence back up! But if your bankroll is fully funded & the losses aren’t affecting your play, then no need for a drop at all!
Cards have no memory. There’s no such thing as card death. It’s all just one long session. (Unless you’re suggesting this for tilt reasons with knowledge it doesn’t affect the math at all.)
@@Anonkontello card dead is a term for no playable hands in a set time span, since you only get dealt around 30 hands per hour live you can easily go several hours with barely any playable hands, but yea playing more hours is the way to beat this. its kind of tilting when players needle you for being tight but all youre getting is 94o J3o 82o Q4o type hands relentlessly and they dont know that

Easily the hardest thing to do is leave while I’m doing good, not only that the other players guilt you when you plan to leave cause they want another crack at you. Easily my biggest mental struggle, leaving early/when ahead 😒

My top tip is! Get staked. When I was down months playing 4 days a week I get staked and this gave me back my Bankroll and I'm able to play my best poker again. That helped me a lot and I climbing back...I'm still climbing 😂
Great tips!!! I would also play short like 3-4 hours max..especially if you’re up like (create a threshold for yourself like $200 or more) I would stop and get out! If you’re down more than $300 I would immediately walk away for a bit or change tables.. don’t chase your losses in the same day.. always take a break and clear your head!! Your vlogs are awesome and so funny 😂
@@NorCal_Poker your logic is flawed tho. Volume is the cure to variance. Worst time to take a break is during downswings. If you can’t handle a downswing and push through it mentally. Poker full time isn’t for you
I’m with you still on a downswing. Lost again last night. My set of jacks lost to a set of queens. Then my top 2 pair A7 loses to a set of 6s on the turn. Fml! 🤦♂️
With AK on k-4-2-6, i think checking the turn with some frequency is good as well. 3 streets v utg open with TPTK is a bit ambitious IMO. the only draw possible was 3-5 and the turn completed that hand anyways so the sizing of the turn bet has to account for an expected calling range. 88-jj, will fold most often, AA is trapping you at a very very small frequency, you block all the lesser Kx holdings, so the Sizing up in that turn.. perhaps question what you were trying to accomplish. Realizing equity is important, and by having to fold there, you realize Zero equity.
@@NorCal_Poker you play good generally bro. These games seem splashy, loose passive. In splashy games multiway, big pocket pairs and AK go down a bit in value, simply because equity vs 3 or 4 opponents is a diminishing return. If you play on a fixed schedule with limited time, taking what you would perceive as non gto lines or sub optimal routes I think is fine, if the goal is reducing variance. Vs multiple opponents you are basically trying to make 2pair+ at showdown often, which is hard to do, but exercising pot control with single pair hands, I think is excellent. I also notice you lose a lot with sets, or have to fold them on rivers. Consider overbetting more on brick turns, like 1.5x or 2x pot even. You may lose some theoretical value, but when you do get called, your opponents will be making a massive mistake, and when they fold with draws, you will simply win more often before showdown reducing your variance as well.
Observation: The hand @ the 19:58 mark. Your camera picks up the Qc Jc and you verbally say that but put up the hand in spades in the upper/left. Then the flop comes with another J clubs. That's a foul deck or you have the wrong graphic for the flop. However, you didn't say on your voice-over that there was a spades draw on the flop which might have led you to have bet more aggressively and maybe won. ??

That AK fold was kinda soft. What did you put him on? AA would have raised pre flop, and its doubtful he'd play a pocket pair turning a set that way. So, maybe KK? But he'd have raised pre flop too...
Sets & two pairs & possibly straight. He was opening super wide & playing a lot of hands but playing soft postflop. Figured his bluffs would raise flop & not wait until turn, especially when I’m putting pressure on
when on a downswing, i try to simply try to make GOOD decisions based on the "now" of wheere i am in any particular hand. making good decisions(getting your money in good and getting the right price on draws) is your ONLY JOB when playing poker. get your ego out of things and just realize this is a LOOOONG term game.
Im not sure about 'booking a win'. The cards dont know about who's playing them or when. If you are playing well , you should play longer. If you are playinh well and lose some hands, in theory you'd get the same hands at some point in the future and lose with them then instead.
Yes, no doubt! Action & results would be way better on the weekends. If you’re able to play then, it’s the best time! I just play when I can which is usually 1-3 weekdays a week from 9 am - 2 pm!
I’ve had 4 losing sessions in a row just getting absolutely stacked. Is this possible due to variance or does my decision making have to factor in at some point?
I have. A question for you about my poker room. Playground in Montreal. For 1/2 they take 10% every pot ( max 13$ ). ( same for 1/3$ ) Is it really shitty or I can grind this ?
@@stepbystepzpoker6933 I don’t think that $1/2 game is beatable enough to make it worth making the leap. I would wait til you have 20 buy ins at the $1/3 to give it a shot. If you buy in $300 then have $6000 & if you buy in $500 then have $10,000
Here's some bad advice that's currently working for me: go up in stakes. At my normal stake (online) Im on a downswing. When I double the stakes, Im on an upswing. So far, the amount of losses at my normal stakes is doubled on the positive (so recouped all the loss then doubled the amount I loss into the positive). Again, bad advice.
