How to detect the source of “unacceptable” behaviors in dementia care. 

When the behaviors of individuals living with dementia change abruptly and are unacceptable to their caregivers, the old paradigm called for increased sedation. But that doesn’t get to the source of the problem and can even make it worse. The DICE approach can be found at www.diceapproach.com and provides resources to help caregivers describe and investigate their loved one’s behaviors to help the provider determine a better solution.
