We’re looking for colors we can use from our palette, developing your own color sense. We need to mix colors that suggest where the light is coming from, the distance of objects, and their relationship to each other, and color temperature.

Thank you for posting these videos showing how to improve a composition through the use of simplification, value, temperature, and color. They are helpful examples on how to simplify complicated photo references. You also use very nice photo references.

My greatest challenge of painting has always been seeing the potential in less-than-perfect photographs. But your videos have really helped me through that. I( love your way of breaking things down. Your style really works for me! Thanks so much :)

This was a big help for my future painting. Thank you❤ I wanted to know which photoshop do you use for painting? Is it an app? Can you write the name of the photoshop plz?

It’s the version of Photoshop that you have to download from their website. I use it on the desktop computer. For an iPad I use Procreate, it’s an app that cost about $20.

it seems like the trees in the very back should be lighter bc they are farther back. (in the picture with the rocks)

Hi Ann, the trees in the background are in shadow (from a cloud shadow) and the foreground trees are in the sunlight. If they were both in the light then the background trees would be lighter.
