My balance claims it's custom sized. 31 3/4". Can I make a 31 or 32 work? And if so, is there a rule about going up or down in size?

Hi Heidi, You can email pictures of your balance to us at info@windowrepairsystems.com. Based on the length, you could have an extended travel balance. For the pictures, we would want to see the stamp and the top and bottom guides from the side where the channel opens. Thanks, Window Hardware Direct

This commentary is not very clear to my mind. The sash window height is one thing but the height of the sash window frame is important as well. How about the top sash.
