Thank you for the information. Can I ask how do you dispose the bakewear safely? To dispose it in the bin would harm the environment to give them away wouldn't be an option as your causing harm to someone else's health? Curious to know your thoughts?

Hi, We started to detoxify our kitchen a few years ago. Now we getting into learning preserving food methods.... Do you know any option to plastic vacuum sealing (food saver) and other methods... It seems all of them have some sort of plastic ( like the vaccum sealing in the lid of the glass jars) somewhere. Thank you!

@@aranha9365 silicone bags work wonderfully for storing foods, although it's not an option for vacuum sealing. Pressure canning or water bath food preserving would be an excellent option. It's more time consuming but the food can last for years!

Is aluminum foil healthy to use for baking? I often line cookie sheets and metal pans with aluminum foil but not sure if I should be.😃

I wouldn't use "ceramic" non-stick either. It's not actually ceramic, and I don't believe they're not toxic. Just like Teflon was once believed to be safe... until it wasn't. I'm afraid "ceramic" non-stick will end up the same. Best to just stick with what our grandmothers used. Thanks for the rest, though! Love the ceramic muffin pan. So cute.

Yes!! I agree with you!! I had bought some GreenPan ceramic coated skillets and a wok. I always smelled a slight chemical odor whenever the pan heated up prior to cooking.

I honestly don’t remember what my grandmother cooked with. What all would you recommend? I know that stainless steel isn’t man made. And of course glass is natural as well.

We need to be carefully with silicon. Silicon can start to Leche chemicals at high temps (i mean even touch a hot stove or oven). It is best to avoid using them in a hot setting. I mean dont use them on the stove or in bake wear. Cold or room temp is fine. I dont think the amount was a lot but it is best to be safe. Also do not put any alcohol on silicone. It also leches.

I watched a number of your video presentations on the subject of toxic cookware and I find them to be very informative and thorough. They are possibly a life saver! Thank you Zenana for taking the time to make these videos. You are providing a wonderful service to all your viewers!

Thank you!! VERY informative!!! I'm shocked that there aren't thousands of likes!! I think that most people prefer to keep their heads in the sand because they feel that being healthy is inconvenient...thinking, "what you don't know won't hurt you," but we need to know! I'm already about 90% where you are, but I saw that there are more tweaks to make!! Keep up the great work!!

Really admire and like your channel and videos and the work that you have been doing to educate the people about the dangers of exposing ourselves to Toxic materials in the form of plastic, Teflon coatings and their alternatives

The change from glass to plastic happened leaving us with no choice. My family didnt take to change easily. We handed down Everything! I have my grandmother's enameled crock pie pan; my mother's cast iron pots and pans and glass cookware. I dare say this movement away from these (now we know!) toxic utensils will make a difference in the industry. Hopefully! What horrifies me is that now I've discovered that paper, tin foil, parchment paper and clear wrap products are also toxic! In 1955 my mom said "We're going to hell in a handbasket!" to which my grandmother said "Yes! And the baskets' got a hole in it!" I can only think that now 😢 we're being hauled in a plastic basket.

There's also carbon steel frying pans. Much lighter than cast iron, but you have to keep it seasoned. I recently got rid of all my non stick pans and utensils and have replaced with stainless steel. I'm replacing my cooking utensils with wood and teak. Stainless steel scratches my pans. I'm still not sure if the silicone is safe.

Thank you Lynette! I love my kitchen too. I call it my "office" because I spend so much time there doing what I love - cooking healthy meals for myself and my family! 😘😋 The Le Creuset is quite heavy indeed. Glass is much lighter for sure. See you in the next video!

Stainless steel cookie sheets do not conduct heat very well. So I ask, would aluminum cookie sheets are safe with unbleached parchment paper be ok. Ceramic needs to be ead, cadmium, and heavy metal free also. Stainless steel needs to be 18/10, 304 and or all clad. Are nylon utensils out also? Thank you

Non Toxic: 1) Glass 2) Pyrex 3) Ceramic 4) Stainless Steel
@huntdooly9845
@huntdooly9845 Год назад
Well, actually, stainless steel isn't 100% nontoxic. It leeches cadmium and nickel into foods if scratched or cooking acidic foods. Carbon steel is a better alternative. I just ordered some skillets from Amazon.

Good advice. I would caution you to consider looking into your gas stove though. I had gas for a while and I understand why people "love" it but I discovered for myself that it's toxic fumes do a lot of harm to us even with "proper ventilation. I recently made the switch to electric and it has made a noticeable difference in improving the head aches, tiredness, and lack of energy we had been having while using gas. Again I understand the benefits of gas but for us, gas (any gas) burning in our home was worth questioning. Look into it and decide for yourself as there are risks and rewards to everything and one way or another we can't live for forever anyway so do what works for you. =)

Many bamboo utensils have varnishes on them, which are toxic. If you’re going to promote bamboo utensils, they need to be varnish-free and coating-free.

Thank you for this video. One more thing, replace gas range with electric. Gas burning pollutes in your house.

Gas range is fine if you have a good range hood (i.e. one not built into a microwave)

I was thinking the same thing, lots of toxins from burning gas. An extraction fan helps, but doesn't solve the problem.
