Just think of it as having 2 light switches one is controlling the power and the is controlling the ground but both light switches can either be power or ground.

@@JLsAutoSolution I have no real background in wiring on a car....so also pretty confused. My 2009 Kia is starting to lock itself repeatedly and the back hatch is being tricky trying to unlock it. I was hoping to see the solution being implemented. I guess that would have helped clear it up for me a bit....but again, no background in this stuff. Thanks for the base lesson though.

I been looking for a video like this, my vehicle is not a Kia, is a Nissan titan 04 but my remote control works pretty much the same as the one you have on hands and my problem looks similar. The passenger door doesn't lock with the remote or with the switch on the door, I have to lock and unlock manually, the driver side works perfect. Thanks a lot for this video and I'm going to try to follow the steps you did to see if my wiring is the problem or the actuator.

hey question. I am not seeing where you connect the clamp end of the test light!? is that connected to a battery or to the Frame( to create grounding) of the door or what?

I have a clue with Kia Sorento 2011 on the rear hatch locking system. All doors work perfecly but rear does not lock or unlock at all. I have no key to insert to lock my rear door. I checked the voltage at black and white pins on the connector and I have 4 volts. I checked wiring up to the rear door when wiring get into the roof and still have 4 volts when I click on the Key. Any suggestions or ideas? Relay? How can I check the wiring continuity up to the fuse box and where?

My 2013 Kia Rio just started doing this but all 4 doors won't lock or unlock with the button or key fob, no motor sound or anything. I checked the fuse and when I push it back in the locks lock and unlock automatically but If I press the button of the fob or the lock button on the door all they stop working again and all I hear is a clicking noise by the fuse box. Any thoughts on this? Is it possible all 4 door actuators went bad at the same time?

I have a issue with my door lock where opening from inside the car opens the door but trying to open the door from the outside doesn't. Is this an actuator problem or tensioners/lock mechanism problem?

I have kia picanto..the problem almost the same..the car lock..but when it unlock I hear all the motors react a little bit but it does not unlocked ..I changed a relay in the central lock pannel it worked but it comes back again the same problem, I cheked all motors are good every thing seemed fine but it comes back again..when I revers the lock and unlock cables the car will unlock but doesn't lock so there is something wrong with the Central lock relays but I don't now how to fix it

Hi there. I have an 08 Town Car with the back door being jammed in. The pull lock on that inner door panel is stayed in the lock position. The lock rod issue will not let me open the door from either the inside or outside Does my issue sound more like an actuator issue, than it does a cylinder issue?

seems like an issue that may be mechanical(with the latch assembly) or electrical.

what could cause the actuator not to work when the door is closed? it works fine when the the door is open but once i close the door i get nothing. 2012 accent rear passenger side. i replaced the whole actuator and latch with one i got at the salvage yard and have the same problem.

Unfortunately the actuator will need to be replaced as there are no serviceable components.. Thanks for watching

in my kia the four doors are not locking nor unlock. I checked the fuses and they are good, what do you think the problem is

there are just to many variables to beable to diagnose a vehicle without some more info.. schematics/ voltages/ and test performed up to now. thanks for watching

My doors lock system works sometimes but other time it work you can hear it unlock but it won’t actually unlock I checked the fuse it’s good I ran the obd system nothing about the security system I have a compustar remote start if that helps

hey darnell, you might be looking at an intermittent door lock actuator malfunction(mechanical). you would need a test light and to get to the wiring to the actual door latch actuator. il have a new video on this soon.. its similar to this video just a little more straight to the point.

@@darnellmorgan6754 you can change whichever part you want. Just make sure thT it is actually defective first. Last thing you wNt is to change a part only to have the same issue.

I'm a little confused about the operation of this part. Is it possible for the door to ever be completely stuck in lock position while shut, and then you wouldn't be able to get the door open at all? I've seen some people mention this, and I had an instance where the first time my door acted up I accidently got it stuck in lock while the door was OPEN and could no longer close up the car, but that was by fault of me messing around at the lock area and poking around, not by the fob or key. So, will inserting the key manually ALWAYS work? I have an '02 car that is starting to act up. I'm a little hesitant to bother replacing the actuator because of the price /age of vehicle.

when looking at a door latch/lock actuator, you need to think on two sides. one side is electrically controlled, while the other is manually controlled. On newer vehicles, you might only fine one manual key insert(on the drivers door) which means you can only unlock the other doors with a Remote/keyFOB or by and internal manual lock. the lock can be stuck either in the lock position or in the unlock position, it really depends on how the actuator failed, now as for the key insert for unlock the door. Unless you use the key insert on a regular basis, most of the time it wil sieze itself and you will not be able to use it,.. thanks for watching.. hopefully this answers your question.

i wish i could help, but iam not there.. there might be a communication issue/blown fuse/ bad remote ect. i would scan for codes first then work from that point on.. thanks for watching

Hello, Nindayu Suhardi For the wiring diagram please refer to alldatadiy.com.. Now for the repairing of the door lock actuator i have performed it but it is very time consuming. Cheaper and faster to just replace the affected door lock actuator. Thanks for watching

the door failed in the unlock state,, so i just pulled on the handle and it opened.. if even the door fails in the locked stated there is a way to get it opened, when i have the chance i will make a video of that.. thanks for watcing

so basically im taking my car to a mechanic to do this lol. how much would it cost to fix this at a kia dealership so i have an idea? im scared i walk in and they say its 2k to fix the lock on my doors, but my physical key on the actuator still works so i'd prob just walk out and use it the old fashioned way

it really does depend on the failure. If its the sjb(Smart Junction Box) then you could easily hit 2k, but typically this repair should be under 500(dealer or independent) always tell them how much you are willing to spend for a diagnosis(ex: 1.5 hours) and that you will see after that time if you want to proceed.. With in 1 hour(under normal circumstances) they should have found the issue or be on the right track to locate the fault. thanks for watching

If it's the actuator, dealer can charge anywhere from $500 up per door. part costs around $10, so DIY is best. Theres a fantastic video showing everything from start to finish for those of us car dummies. It wouldn't be fair to show link here, but search for "Car door lock actuator repair/replacement....." in You tube. Same method as shown here, just shown step by step for unskilled folks. Good luck.
