food for thought. I'm really not fond of products that have Stop Leak because it basically acts as a coagulate and clots up like blood. depending on the location and severity of the leak it can actually clog the system. especially at locations like the condenser. that is where i would start looking for a restriction. love the vid, keep it up! take us to a Miami car meet or something, would love to see the car culture down there

I made the high pressure relief valve do its thing one time and it sounded pretty terrifying lmao. No problems from daily use for years cut short by idling too long with the ac on after the car was parked in the arizona sun. Since the condenser fan only kicks on when coolant temp is really high at 200F, it gets toasty if you stop moving. The newer style r134 OEM driers come with a high pressure cut-off which should prevent this sort of thing.

Good video jesse, i defiantely learned a ton from your video about the 300zx's ac system. I know my Z's acsystem is working, last time i used it so i dont need to repair mine but it did have a leak years ago and a specialist ac shop fixed it for me and converted it over from r12 to r134a, just like what your doing. Keep up the good work.

If you are doing the twin turbo swap you will have to source TT ac lines. The TT ones are shaped differently than the NA to accommodate the turbo manifolds more specifically on the driver side.

Hey I was hoping you could help me.. I took my z32 to a a shop that specializes in AC repair and they converted my car to r134a, said compression is good and they forced the vents to only blow cold (was stuck on hot). They spent a couple days working on it trying to get it to blow cold but it doesn't. It blows a bit lower than ambient but not cool enough. They gave up and didn't bill me. Any ideas on what it could be?

Hey Jesse, I got. ‘90 300ZX with the manual AC control, but I can’t find any replacement parts since most Z’s had the auto AC control. Any recommendations on what I should do? I was hoping not to get a convertible control unit since it doesn’t have a spot for the rear wiper control

If you got the Convertible Control Unit, could you use parts from that unit to fix whats broken on your control unit?

@@BuildTheoryZ the slider for the fan speed sometimes doesn’t turn on the AC, the temperature slider stays on full hot, and the previous owner broke the mounting holes for the screws, so it just hangs

i have a 1992 300zx and im trying to find out why mine is just not turning on im clicking on auto and everything but still wont turn on can someone tell me what i can do i already replace all the fuse except the one behind the fuse box im thinking it might be that but idk

Do you have refrigerant in it? Does the compressor have oil in it? If the compressor doesn’t have the proper amount of fluid. It won’t engage

@@Z32rbsouzathat’s the thing the whole thing won’t turn on like if I hit auto the little screen would still be black and nothing would happen I’m going to pull it today and see if somthing about the plugs

@@JospehStetson ohhhh gotcha gotcha. Maybe your whole switch is bad. Which would be very unfortunate because you have the auto one and they’re quite pricey

Hey man, I’m planning on buying a TT swapped NA z but the AC was deleted. Like it’s missing the condenser compressor and I believe the hardliners. Could I put that back in without pulling the engine? As an alternative would I be able to just jack up the engine and put it in that way?

You can install all those parts with the engine in the car, Bad News is The AC Compressor and AC Condenser are discontinued. Ive been searching and searching and right now the best I can Find is used parts on ebay or marketplace, used compressor's are going around $500+ and Used Condenser around $300+, that doesn't include the lines and we honestly don't know the actually condition of these parts, even if they say "Good Part" did they really have the Condenser test for leaks and flow, see if it clogged, and same with the compressor. My best advice is buying a car with No AC Make sure you get it at the right price.

@@BuildTheoryZ well it’s being sold for 6k but he says I can buy for 5k. Which is great. Issue is the swap isn’t done yet. It hasn’t been started at all so he’s finishing up the swap. You’re right about the condenser and compressor tho. I found a condenser for 300 and an okay ish compressor got 300 as well and I found all the hard lines of Fb for 30 bucks so it’s not too bad
