Thank you. I have oil burning and every time I take my car in for oil change I tell them and they have never mentioned pcv valve. I figured it out when I changed my air flow sensor.
What kind of car do you have? Some are sneaky and put the PCV into the intake manifold. That means replacing the entire intake manifold just to replace the PCV
I still have a 1999 built Corolla and am ready to put in a new PCV and the hose as well... total cost about $22 and an hour of work on a dry day with the car engine cooled... My second one and now at 280K miles....
I wish mine was that easy to change. Ford put it on the back of the block; close to the firewall. With my bear paw hands, it's tough to get back there! And it's in a blind spot, so you have to work by touch.🙄
I inherited the truck from my father and I the oil change place said I’ve been burning massive amounts of oil and have my PCV check due to its never been replaced. No smoke and have great power still just massive oil consumption
I bought a new fuelmeiser pcv valve and was wondering if you blow in it should it be completely sealed, the valve I bought very slowly leaks air as I blow into it is this ok or should I send it back?
Yeah my Lexus was throwing a little bit of smoke from the exhaust. The PCV valve was broken (if you shake it. It makes a noise. A good PCV valve stays silent) so I replaced it and my exhaust issue is gone. On a 08 Lexus es350 you need a 19mm deep socket.
Actually a good PCV valve DOES make noise ie; rattles when you shake it! The valve has a one way mechanism that opens when letting the vapors into the manifold to burn off but stops then from going back in by preventing back flow. Most PCV valves sound make a sound similar to a can of spray paint when you shake them!
@@bigtuna9529 your right ! I was completely wrong. But my car is definitely letting off less exhaust fumes and I'd say it looks normal now and doesn't smell rich. I'm pretty sure I'm not just seeing things lol. Anyways the PCV valve was the original so it gives me piece of mind to replace it either way.
If my plugs are oily, once i stop burning oil will they clean up soon after or do they HAVE to be swapped? I just got new ones and dont wanna spend extra.
Mine 99 RAV4 only smokes when I start it first in the morning and it’s not running rough either o have a ripped hose and I decided to change the pcv too but I don’t know what I’m doing lol
Do you own a newer engine or turbocharged motor? Some Chevy's have the PCV embedded inside the intake manifold. So that requires a complete manifold replacement just to fix the PCV.
@Mole460 Only women who refuse to learn for themselves. I do most of my own auto repairs on my two 20 year-old cars and my local OReilly guys all know me by name 🤣
I have a 2015 Chev Malibu with 177000 km and it shows code 0089 and code 0016. Code 0089 says it's the fuel pressure regulator and the 0016 says it's the bank 1 camshaft position sensor. I called the dealership for the price of the FPR and they tell me they don't have one on the computer. A dummy like me believes him because I don't find any videos of anyone working on the 2015 which seems to be different than the others in the engine. Any information would be a appreciated as I have no clue where to find, even the line to fuel pressure test. Thanks
I have a question, the passages side valve, on top of valve cover what is that called , I think its where the fresh air comes in, my question is can that passenger side valve be replaced i can't find a video about it, its just a hose that connects to something there on top of valve
I been have issues with ma hona civic 09 it was very sluggish i thought it was da fuel i replace it. It did improve but now wen i let go of da brake it accelerate to 3 mph without touch da gas pedal datz not normal. I did see white smoke 1 day wen it was hot outside so maybe diz can be da issue
My truck blows white smoke when I start it up doesn’t burn oil or coolant it’s always the same level when i check everything people told me it’s a gasket but I hope this is it
I just cleansed my pcv valve,it was blocked ,car ran rough and didn't idle great, smokey ,no power, now it runs heaps better ,they can pressure test your engine to see if blown or cracked,
If the plugs are fouled with oil you have big problems. Either your head gasket, or rings are not sealing. You can clean the plugs but if it fouls again you need to dig into the engine and figure out where the oil is coming from.
