Thank you for sharing the video. We had a problem with a doe I had brought home. Treated her. Torched all of the cages and hung oscillating fans to touch each rabbit. Everyone seems to be doing great. We are still looking for Harlequin rabbits. Hope you have an AWESOME DAY 😊🌻😊

What about kits? I have week old kits that I suspect to have mites. Their ears aren't "open" yet. But they have the tell tell 'dry skin' look. I lost one kit last night. Possibly from mites, possibly something else, and I physically saw mites crawling on it. (I was shocked). I checked the does and they looked clean. But I treat regularly, especially during winter (they live in the barn due to low temps here), to make sure I don't have a bloom. Currently moving them to their summer location where they will not be so surrounded by wood. Also, I'm concerned that may its the flake & hay that is infested. So how to i know?

I was interested in Bio-Groom until I read this on another site: "The use of over the counter products against mite or ear mites should be avoided. Most contain pyrethrin. While one of the least toxic insecticides for animals and rabbits, pyrethrins/pyrethroids are neurotoxins which lead to continuous "firing" of nerves. Observed problems in rabbits include limb paralysis, seizure, coma, tremor, sometimes death. Many of those products contain additives that prolong the effect of the pyrethrins, and inhibit the breakdown of these products in the body. They can lead to toxic reactions in rabbits. Piperonyl butoxide is one of them. If no immediate death, there should be **slow** recovery with time, around 48 h." What are your thoughts?

Hi! It’s me again! I got ivomec and first gave it to my Holland lop about 3 weeks ago. When we first purchased him, he didn’t have any fur on his tail. Then a few weeks later I noticed the fur around his front and back paws started to gradually recede towards his legs. After giving him ivomec, his tail grew back which is great!!! But I have not seen any improvement in his paw areas. I don’t see any ear mites, so i suspected fur mites... but assumed if his tail grew back the fur around his paws would too. But so far they haven’t, Any thoughts?

I have free roam indoor rabbits. Like clockwork we get mites in spring and during fall shedding. I use Advantage for kittens or small cat 5-9 lbs. Toss their toys. Clean their potty box etc with vinegar. Vacuum everyday thoroughly for about a week- be sure to edge well, they hide like fleas. That's all I've ever done. It's easy and they are gone like magic. This also worked with my first infestation which was horrendous before I figured it out- clumps of hair, bald spots, the mites were even on me. I used the above method and - gone. It also works for fleas. FYI. Rubbing alcohol kills fleas and mites on contact (and lice). Great for carpets, furniture, etc. Not directly on the pet though.

I couldn't see anything either 😔. First timer, really wanted to see the site of infection. However I'll look out for crusting and redness. I guess it's deep in the ear and not along the floppy parts 🤔

I just noticed my bunny has a decent sized patch of missing hair it’s not really bald because there is some hair left he is a house bunny and their are no other bunny’s that might have caused this could this be mites or something else my mom says it might just be him shedding and it’s part of the process should I be worried? My rabbit is an inside rabbit, I believe she received the mits either from the trip to the park or the wood shavings that I purchased from Petco ( I’ve been using for more than 5 months now 🤷🏾‍♀️) I’m concerned that while treating the mites they may leave out of her cage and into my house. There’s no out side yard that I can place her in while I do the treatment. Any advice I would definitely appreciate it.

Hi I hope you see this comment as I know this video is a few years ago. I have 2 rabbits I rescued outside and they have a severe case of fur mites. They also gave it to my cat. I took them to the vet and she gave Revolution. But after a couple of weeks of having that on, the mites seemed to be getting worse. So out of desperation I used a topical ivermectin used for cattle. It seemed to help a bit but I still see them itchy and scratchy. It’s driving me crazy because they both had GI Stasis and one bun is still battling stasis a month later. Not sure if I’m using the proper ivermectin but I can’t afford a vet anymore. When should I see them stop itching and would I need to reapply? And how often? Thank you

We have mice who come in from outside..im worried about my bunny getting bit by one but Trevor, in my profile pic above, has fleas from these freaking mice!! Ive tried to get rid of the mice to get rid of the fleas but its not happening..do you have any suggestions?? I dont have money to take him to the vet.. Hello! I'm new to rabbits and got 2 NZ's from my daughters FFA teacher for my daughter to start showing. We didn't know that hay can carry mites. We temporarily placed the cages on straw until hubby got the hutch built. 3 days after getting them I notice that she had a balding patch starting behind her ears on the neck. day 4 much worse. I was told to treat with kitten flea powder and a pea size ivermectin paste orally which was no easy task, but we did it. I did this and she became sick, maybe too much paste. She didn't eat for 24 hours and very lethargic. We thought we were going to lose her. She started eating on day 3 with timothy hay and on day 4 started eating her pellets again. She is now back to her normal greeting us at the cage door and wanting a nose rub. It has been a week since I did the paste and a light dusting of flea powder. I really don't want to do the flea powder again and was wondering if I could treat the fur mites with the injectable Ivermec topically on her neck (or would you recommend drops in the ears) on day 10 from initial paste treatment? I want to make sure that the fur mites are all gone. Prior to treating we only noticed missing hair, today day 7 after initial paste given I now see the dandruff that everyone talks about. I want to make sure that I clear this all up before we breed for meat rabbits and for the comfort of the rabbits. I haven't notice anything on the other doe we got, but I still treated her just in case.
