i would just lik to say thank you and this vid saved me from fake oakleys. I bought them on ebay and i watched this vid and all the fake descriptions matched. I just got my real ones today and they match up to ur real descriptions. Save ur time pay the extra money at a dealer rather than wasting ur time wit ebay
Cool video, thanks heaps. I have just received a brand new pair of Oil Rigs not Gas Cans, this video was still helpful in showing that mine are definitely genuine.
now i realise ur right! it's becoz of the light behind that makes ur lens "see-through". By the way i meant that for the clip ur talking about. When u open up your sunglass, it shud be straight on the edge, making it looking like a whole piece, but on ur real sunglass, there seems to be a gap in it.
Just do yourself a favor if you're gonna buy Oakleys. Buy them off of their website or in an authorized dealer. Yes you're gonna pay out the ass unless they're having a sale (authorized dealers) but at least then you'll know you're getting good quality.
Great vid. I thank you. Its just a shame Oakley dont realise how much these vids help there profit.. I think a free pair of shades should be dished out.
2 questions, i bought my black oakley gascans off of ebay. 140$ retail, bought on ebay 110. on the inside is the 12-891 60 o 17 the license code? and i have like 3 and a half o's 2 on the frame and 1 on the end of the frame on the inside. its an oakley o on one and a normal round o on the other right side. should i be concerned these are foakleys?
thanks for posting this video. i just purchased gascan matte black with grey lens. it has all the descriptions of an original one except it does not clip... that's the only thing that bothers me. is it fake?
You are correct! I have two pairs of Ducati Gascans... Both bought from an Oakley store at different times. The older pair do not have the model number printed on the arm or the O impressions on the tip of the ear stem. The new pair has them... I guess Oakley changed the manufacturing process at some point!
@evile1174 the "hidden" O's in the gascan is inside the frame try looking on the outer part of the fuelcell just by the tip of the glasses very carefully, you'll see it
@xTrikshot ...its not about them being fake and it not being obvious to people around you. its a warning to those who go on ebay and buy these glasses at an authetic price. if the buyer claims they are 100% authetic and purchased from the oakleys factory itself and you end up getting fakes, its something to get pissed off at. do you want to pay 100$ for fakes?
Have Gascans ALWAYS had those O's on the inside of the arms? I have 2 pairs of Gascans sold to me as authentic by credible sellers, and neither has the O's on the inside of the arms. They have everything else, snapping arms, serial #'s, deep groove above nose etc., but not the imprinted "O's" on the inside of the arms. anyone know?? lmk
@Awkrin well Oakley told me the Gascans only started imprinting the O on the inside of the gascan arms somewhat recently, along with the serial numbers. Mine dont have them, and are confirmed authentic. But the other things in your video are good tho, the hinges, the deep groove above the nose, and the arm snapping/clipping.
@Awkrin Mine dont look like the typical square O though. there are round circles there, but not a O that match the square oakley o. But mine clip open, have a good dent above the nose, have a serial number, so I still think they are real. I dunno.....
ok well i bought a pair of gascan's in 2009 and they are the clear black ones. now i have a matte black pair of gascan's with Polarized lenses and i noticed one thing was different between the two. i think the matte black ones are real since everything is the same expect one part. there is no "o" at the very end of the arm. but there is a serial number on the matte ones. so maybe its because they are different color or something? not to sure
oh my god, are you sure you didn't get them mixed up? Oakleys sunglasses shud clip nicely forming a straight edge, but ur real ones doesn't seem so. furthermore the real ones u claimed can be looked through clearly.
Honestly if you’ve ever handled a legit pair you know immediately by folding the arms if they lock open and lock closed never seen a fake pair even get close to how it should feel
@@13n3saints My Gascan checks in all points but the numbers shown there that in mine does not have, I think spent never paid attention to it, but that's it :)!
Not all Oakleys on ebay are fake you have to look at feedback and see if there are any bad reviews ofcourse some people may not know if they are real or not but remember selling replica's is not allowed on ebay so no matter what happens if your shades are fake you will always get your money back and the seller will be banned from ebay so best thing to do is buy from a seller that sells alot of shades and has well over 1000 positive feedback.
This video confuses me, I bought some oakley gascans last week, I noticed they DO have the plastic line near the nose so that immediately freaked me out...but they have all the things you showed that would mean they are real ones.
Also I have done extensive research on this subject now directly with Oakley. I have spoken to them both on the phone and in Emails, and I took my gascans to a local Oakley store (official store) and they confirmed they were legit, completely authentic They popped out the lenses, looked closely at the hinges, at the arms, and compared them to their gascans. Mine dont have the serial number or little imprinted O's inside the arms.
There are fakes that do a damn good job imitating Oakley’s. They are just missing the few things that can’t be put on to prevent lawsuits. If you don’t have a serial number to match then they are fake.
@ftsfats no mine does it but mine only did it for awhile keep opening and closing the side that the noise is on and just keep opening and closing untill it stops thats wat i did with mine
I have a pair of the fakes.. the arms click fine but no indentation or bump inside bridge and no serial number on inside arms. Bought off Ebay 3 yrs ago. BEWARE.
I have a pair myself. (POLISHED BLACK, GRAY POLARIZED LENS) I recently went to South East Asia where its super hot. I noticed that the polarized film started bubbling and crusting. So i just scratched it off with my finger nail. I called the Oakley store and they said it was due to oils from my body. Did anyone else have this problem? Thanks * My sunglasses are real.*
If you want real shit go buy at from the makers not ebay.......i hate when people buy like jordans of ebay for 40$ then bitch about them being fake what you think when you pay that foe them. when you go to a retail store and pay 120
