How to Differentiate Between Heart Failure and COPD

Heart Failure and COPD are common chronic disease entities that frequently co-exist in a given patient. The presence of both conditions is also associated with worse patient related outcomes. In this session, we will define the scope of the problem and provide guidance around how to differentiate heart failure and COPD in both the acute and office based setting. We will discuss the utility of various diagnostic tests and how they can be effectively integrated into clinical practice. As well, we will review optimal treatment strategies for this complex patient population with a focus on self management and pharmacological therapy.
