I have an idig. You largely contributed to my purchase of this wonderful device. Thank you and I look forward to your next videos. Regards

Thanks, that is the very reason I made these videos because when I bought my Idig system, there was not much information out there and I kind of took a gamble on the system being able to do what they say it can on the website. Once I realised how good it was, I thought it would be useful to share that with other small excavating companies like yours. You will love Idig, it saves me so much time and therefore earns me more money! I hope you find the same

@@Olliegunns Exactly as you wrote. There is very little material on iDig, your movies are the most. There are practically no video recordings in Poland. Therefore, I will be making video materials and discussing them in Polish. Others take advantage of it. Maybe he will draw the appropriate conclusions just like I did by watching your video. Thank you again and see you soon.

You might need to know height from dig to laser if you are laying storm water or sewer to check an invert level?

is there a way to switch from cm & meters to inches and feet?

@Olliegunns 2 года назад
Yes, you can have it set in imperial measurements too. Takes seconds to change the setting

Hi Ollie , after watching your videos, I’ve purchased a 8026 brand new , silly question as , I’ve used red diesel in the past in hire equipment, which often clogged the fuel filter , what fuel do you use ?
@Olliegunns
@Olliegunns 2 года назад
Well I hope your new machine serves you as well as mine has. I use red diesel currently, although its looking increasingly like I will have to move to white in April when the new rules come in. I think the filter clogging thing can be down to a couple of factors. 1. How clean your funnel/ cans are when you fill up. Seems so obvious but Ive seen guys grab funnels that have been rolling around in the van or in the dirt and without so much as wiping them - start pouring fuel in! Its a sure fire way to make a breakdown!

The other reason is the amount of FAME or biodiesel in modern fuel. This can cause a phenomenon known as diesel bug which is essentially a bacteria growing in your diesel. Prolonged storage, single walled tanks - anything that allows condensation and therefore moisture to come into contact with your diesel can cause this. And when biodiesel was first introduced there were a lot of farmers/ contractors who were having to change fuel filters on a daily basis! You can find suppliers who don't put FAME into their fuels or who run very low %. You can also buy additives to reduce the diesel bug taking hold in your storage tank. Google it - its an interesting issue!

Hi Ollie. Great video as always. Can I ask you....do you know if engcon tiltrotor has some kind of level assistance function in order to keep the grading angel perfect? Are you doing your grading manually or do you have some kind of assistance that is controlling the bucket? I find it very hard for example to use a gradingbeam and keep it perfectly level. Would be super cool if you could do some videos of how to grade efficiently for beginners. :)

Hi, not on this size of tiltrotator they don't, everything you see me do with the Idig is me controlling the machine - Idig just gives me guidance. Some of the bigger ones across all the main manufacturers can hook the tiltrotator up to the automatics of the grade control function - and that must be pretty cool! But for those of us at the smaller end - we have to just get better on the rollers I'm afraid.

Hey Ollie, love your reviews, does the idig know where the bucket is when you rotate it?
@Olliegunns
@Olliegunns 3 года назад
Thanks. When you say rotate, do you mean rotate with the tiltrotator? In which case, no it doesnt know that on my little Ec02, but the bigger tiltrotators have a system called EPS and Idig can integrate with that so it knows whatever angle or rotation the bucket it. Quite clever really.

@@Olliegunns Thank you very much for your reply, mines a ec206 on a 6 ton rubber duck, engcon say the eps is only fitted from ec 209 upwards. Has it hindered your work with it not knowing the bucket position when rotated? Seems like a valuable bit of kit

It’s a Leica Rugby 810. But Idig will work with any brand of laser

Great system, does it dig level if machine is not?
@Olliegunns
@Olliegunns 3 года назад
Hi, yes, this is what makes it a 2D system. There is a sensor mounted in the cab that tells the computer how far out of level the machine is sitting. And when digging a slope, it knows what direction you are pointing in too, so as you slew, at accounts for the angle of the machine and adjusts the slope angle accordingly. Its pretty clever, I didn't trust it at first but its been bang on every time.
