Simon, I have a small generic "no name" cassette tape playback device, referred to as the "digital recorder" in the limited instructions, that has an included micro-usb to usb cable. I use earphones to listen through the headphone jack to queue the tape, but when I hit "play" Audacity is getting no signal whatsoever. If you are familiar with such a playback-to-mp3 device, any insights are greatly appreciated!

Could you do the same thing but only using a 3.5mm Jack to 3.5mm Jack that is plugged into the headphone port on the macbook?

I have been online, I need the headphone plugin for my Technics Cassette, then that should have a USB end to plug into my my MacBook Pro. I will be using Garageband. I must not be calling what I need correctly because everytime, I get the same items that I can not use. Can you tell me or provide a link on what I need as shown above. Thank you. I have over 75 cassette tapes from the 70's and 80's. It will take me a while to complete, but also save me a lot of $$.

Thanks for this tutorial. Does this method still works with a Mac Book Air M1 ? I tried, but was unsuccessful. There seem to be no audio input.

The input is USB -- in this video, they are showing a USB A output, so you will either need a different one or a USB A to USB C converter because you MacBook Air has USB C only

Could I use garageband? How do I export the song when finished?

garageband sounds like shit lol, you have to do so many more steps in terms of limiting

I have a Mac OS 10.13 so I downloaded the older version of Audacity., 3.2. The newer version did not work at all. However, under the Mac sound preferences for input it only said - USB Microphone USB. The cables are placed correctly; but is this why it does not seem to pick up any audio on the cassette tape? Thanks.

That should read Audacity 1.25. Thanks.

What do I do if, on my Mac "Sound>Input" the computer is not finding the cassette player I have connected to it? I only see "Built-in" as an option.

that's why you need software like audacity, twisted wave, garage band etc.

After I recorded using audacity you can hear some static through the recording, would you not what’s causing this or how I could fix it?
@TechThatDoesntByte
@TechThatDoesntByte Год назад
Hi Melinda. Did you hear the static noise during the recording process? You might be able to remove the static sound by using the noise reduction effect within Audacity. Select your recorded audio and click on "Effect" and select "Noise Reduction." Then click on "Get Noise Profile." The window will disappear once it has collected the noise profile. Click on "Effect" and select "Noise Reduction" again but this time you will click on 'Ok' and it should start the noise reduction.

Hi ask learn. Thanks for the comment. I'm sorry to hear about the issue. That's a strange issue. Let's see what is going on! What is the brand name of your audio capture card device? Also, have you tried unplugging and replugging the audio device after restarting your Mac?
