So one thing, you have to buy the Forscan software license to be able to modify the DRL settings. Other than that, worked as you described. My truck 2017 Canadian F150 XLT 20 bucks for OBD cable and 10 for the license. 30 bucks and was still cheaper than the dealership charging 50 flat rate for labor. Great tutorial, thanks!!!
Hey MrAjd1982! I'm happy that this helped. You don't need to buy the license. You can download the extended license as many times as you need after the initial 3 month period is over. Buying is also a good option though, so you don;t have to go through the hassle of renewing the license if you do the changes over a longer period of time.
- I was able to get rid those annoying running lights off my F150 XTR using a "FORScan OBDMONSTER"- via a USB connection without any driver/setting issues. Have a few more setting changes to go on the truck. Thank you for sharing !!
Wow finally I found your video sir, this is exactly what I’m having with my truck f-150 2018 xlt too. Mt truck was originally from Canada too and It gives me no choice at all when I put the gear on drive and reverse. The parking light, and low beam will automatic turn on with the knot on off. Please help me with this sir, 🙏🏻 my truck is f-150 2018 xlt 3.5 v6 gas. Can I change it exactly what you did or what’s the different that I must do to disable drl. And can you advise me what device or adapter should I use, thanks.
Someone put in the comments below that the adapter ELM323 WITH H/M CAN SWITCH is better. I posted a later video that shows how to add the DRL on/off option to the cluster (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xcf2CGz87Ps.html). If you do the other one, then you don't do this one.
Doesn't work for 2022 F150 XL. Its only off or on for DLR. High beam with fogs does work. Friendly FYI. Note, I did try putting numbers in and also enable/disable. Neither worked.
18 f150 xlt. Canadian truck. Just want my marker lights as DRL. Im having hard time making this work. Can anyone post a detailed walkthrough. I changed values as per spreadsheet but but low beams were still on..
Some people find it annoying. Also, the amount of idiots who forget to actually turn their headlights on driving down the highway at night with no tail lights shows it is an issue.
@@sxiong9908 To have the option to turn on/off on the cluster, you need to follow the procedure on this other video. However, this one won't work if you have the green screen. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xcf2CGz87Ps.html
@@sxiong9908 Then if you follow the second video, you should be able to add it to the instrument cluster. Just don't do, or undo, the steps from the first video for the second video to work.
It's ironic how many people think that Canadian law mandates those stupid DRL to be on at all times. A relative living up there checked this out and federal law states that vehicles MUST BE EQUIPPED with DRL feature, but nowhere it is written that they must be ON. Perhaps his state might be mandating them ON, but at the federal level, no law mandates any vehicle to have lights on during the day.
Looks like they make a lite version for iOS, but I'm not sure it can make changes to the modules apps.apple.com/us/app/forscan-lite-for-ford-mazda/id892347083
@@dcfgarage yeah i think you're right but i appreciate the reply regardless, its funny out of all the issues with my truck, the drl lights seem to be the biggest pain in the a$$ lol go figure
Yes, indeed. You can also watch this other video I made that shows how to add the option to turn the DRL on/off to the instrument cluster. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xcf2CGz87Ps.html
I am trying to disable the daytime running lights and the forscan program is saying I need an extended license to run function. I purchased the same oBD 2 from your video. Can you help with this issue? Or what else do I need to do?
You need to download a free license file from forscan.org. They are good for 60 days and you can download as many times as u want. Then you will load that file on forscan and it will allow u to do the changes
I got an email after registering for the free trail saying I had to be approved. Is that normal ? Also can I fix the brightness of the dash controls and can I change the way the dateis displayed?
@@pinoymike8237 I think you need approval to get in the group. I can remember. Here are the steps to get the free license. Look in section B. forscan.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=836forscan.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=836 About the brightness, I've never tried. But here is the spreadsheet I use with all the possible configurations -> docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1uDSQ1Z5a2Wt8-kjrSiVSlDFGFHnfeuhb3RTMVz95730/edit#gid=815852466
@@dcfgarage thank you so much for the help. I will definitely tell people with vehicle questions to check out your RU-vid and will continue to watch your videos
The check engine light always comes on if your keys are in the ignition and power is on (partial key turn) but the engine is not running. It is hard to tell in the video but he had not started his engine.
You need to have the ignition on the ON position. Check this forum out -> www.f150forum.com/f118/forscan-software-enable-disable-features-your-truck-348987/index2050/ . Post #20501 might be the cause of your problem too.
Does anyone have any clue why when I do this that after i click "write" the lights do the flicker, it tells me to turn it on and off the the it resets it back to enabled every time?
Why do you figure it’s annoying to have DRL? I don’t care where you live it’s a safety issue it’s safer to have your DRL on all the time be seen.I’m a truck driver with 5 million miles. I drive with my headlights on all the time on big truck and personal vehicle. You can’t be too safe
