You’re welcome! When Adobe loaded the new layout onto my computer I could not work the same as before. I was very happy to find the solution too. Cheers from the U.S.A.! - Jason
I can't thank you enough! I didn't realize that Adobe came up with a new layout and thought I was losing my mind and couldn't figure out how to get the familiar layout back. Now I know it's Adobe that's gone mad by changing the layout to something out a nightmare for PDF users and creators.
I'm glad the video helped you! I couldn't stand the layout of the "New" version of Adobe Acrobat either. At least the solution was simple! Have a great day -- Jason :)
@@JasonBagnell I went back to viewing files with Edge. The problem was that I need to edit files. I am very close to switching to Bluebeam. I work with drawings often, so it might be a better tool
Hi! The Adobe Acrobat Reader program is free and they didn't include a "Save" button, so it can't be used for editing. I think Adobe's software has become VERY expensive over the last few years and I don't like how all of the software companies have switched to a "subscription model". I miss the good old days of pay-once, use forever. There are LOTS of other Adobe Acrobat alternatives you can find that cost less and don't require a subscription license. Many people have already jumped ship on Adobe. Let me know how everything goes if you choose use install a different program. Thanks -- Jason :)
I was so glad when I figured it out too! I waited several months before searching to see if there was an easy way to revert back to the old layout. Thank goodness there was! Have a great day -- Jason 😀
Thank you so much for this helpful video. I have several functional disabilities with processing information, managing tasks, ADHD, etc., just to name few, and so when I opened up one of my PDFs and suddenly found everything so completely screwed up and mashed all about by their unexpected layout / interface changes, etc., it kind of really screwed me up and sent me into a tirade for a while. Needless to say, your video's been a great help, and believe me, when they asked why I reverted back to the old layout after doing so, I tore into 'em w/my response. Such total disregard and lack of consideration on their part for the impact that their doing these things can have on their customers is, I'm sure, immensely unappreciated, by many. MY ONLY FEAR NOW IS THAT THEY MAY AT SOME POINT DECIDE TO "FORCE" THESE CHANGES ON EVERYONE AND OVERRIDE OR DENY THE ABILITY TO REVERT BACK TO THE PRIOR LAYOUT / INTERFACE STYLE . . . and if so - when they do that, I will most likely be GONE - probably along w/a bunch of others. WOULD YOU KNOW IF THEY HAVE ANY PLANS LIKE THAT IN STORE? I've already purchased a user license for an alternative PDF program called Wondershare PDFelement, as a precautionary measure. And I've also already used that program for a while, as well, so am already used to it, too.
I'm glad my video helped you! We do seem to be at the mercy of big companies like Microsoft and Adobe. Microsoft is in the process of making BIG changes to their Outlook program and it is already causing similar problems for some of my clients. I don't know what Adobe is going to do to us next but I'm glad you have an alternate program that you're comfortable with. Thanks for your comment and have a great weekend! -- Jason
@@JasonBagnell Thank you again, as well. And thank you for responding, too. I don't have or use MS Outlook, but do have MS Office Home and Student (2016, I think), w/in which I use MS Word, a "tremendous amount." Hopefully those MS Outlook changes you're talking about won't be rolling over into that, as well - as that'd have the potential for screwing me up in a major way, too. So, woulf you happen to know if they're going to be rolling those changes over onto MS Office Home and Student / MS Word users, as well? I pray and hope not, as I don't know how pople keep their sanity with the ways these companies are always screwing around with and changing things. I'm prety old school and firmly believe in the old mantra that "if it ain't broke, don't fix ti." If ur able to get back to me on this question as well, then thanks for such also, and in advance. You are appreciated. -- Steve
Hi Steve! I think you’ll be OK because they are only working on, developing and changing their Office 365 products. In your case, having an older pre-365 version should keep you from getting an unwanted surprise from Microsoft. As far as they are concerned, your version is “old news” and hopefully they won’t make changes to it other than pushing out security patches. Cheers! - Jason
You just saved me from months and months of neurodivergent agony. Now I just need to get windows 11 to look and act like windows 98 and we'll be all set lol
I’m glad you’re as happy as I was when I figured out the simple solution. I stopped using my beloved Adobe Acrobat program (that I’m paying for) for over two weeks before I found the solution. I had to make a video to help others that were dealing with the same issue. Now, if they would just stop messing with it…! Cheers !! - Jason :)
So that must be where that U2 album came from…! Every time I get into my RAV4, my iPhone pairs to the Bluetooth and it usually starts playing one of the U2 songs. It will make you nuts after about the 1000th time - LOL !
You're welcome! When they took away the view that shows the individual page thumbnails down the left side, I just about lost it! I'm glad you found it helpful. 😀
Thanks so much, that worked quite well. After the switch, Reader noticed it and asked me what they needed to do to make it better. LOL, isn't that obvious?!?
I’m glad the video helped!! Adobe must think that changing everything will have a positive impact on their long-term customers. Not so much! At least they gave us a way to “go back” to normality! LOL..!
Hi! Maybe try uninstalling Adobe Acrobat Reader and reinstalling it. One other person a few months ago had the same experience. Hopefully the option will appear after a fresh install. Thanks -- Jason :)
@@JasonBagnell My fault. I found it and will change my response. Let me ask you something: I have around one hundred different customers and need to create a notebook for daily issues for tech support with different subfolders that have notepads with numbered lines. How would I do that?
downloaded itself to my new macpro ... had to search around for this option and I disengaged it hopefully forever ... do not need the tools on the left and the panel on the right as all I do is use as a reader and use the note function to add my thoughts do not want any paid version for my little needs thanx to you at least for now I appreciate your quick and easy suggestion
Hi! I'm not exactly sure. There may be a registry key or group policy setting that will apply the change to all users but I can't seem to find any information about it. Let me know if you're able to turn up something. Thanks! -- Jason
I agree! I work with PDF files on a daily basis and one morning I woke up to find that everything had changed. After clicking around for while, I gave up using Adobe Acrobat for a few WEEKS until I finally took time to figure out how to "fix" it. Thank goodness there was an easy solution. The comments under my video show that other people feel the same way about it that we do. Have a great evening! -- Jason
You're welcome! Hopefully you'll be as happy as I was after switching back to the old layout. I was mad at Adobe for about two months before I bothered to find a solution. Cheers -- Jason :)
Hi! Mac is most likely going to be different. A quick Google search might provide the answer but I don't have a Mac computer to test with. Have a great day -- Jason
I am tired of adobe going back to first page as I read through everytime, please make a video or give me suggestion how I can not go back to the first page as I read?
Hi! I found a community post that gives a possible answer. See the following page on the Adobe website: community.adobe.com/t5/acrobat-reader-discussions/showing-pdf-the-way-i-last-viewed-it/td-p/8970134 In the answer, it says to open the Adobe Acrobat program and then do the following: Go to Edit - Preferences - Documents and tick "Restore last view settings when reopening documents". Hopefully this will make Adobe Acrobat work the way you want it to. Have a great weekend! -- Jason :)
Hi! I'm glad that changing this simple setting made you happy again! I went months and almost stopped using Adobe Acrobat until I did some research to find out how to switch back to the Classic view. Have a great day -- Jason :)
Unfortunately this doesn't work just reloads the ."new improved" version again. When will the developers realise that frequent users work from muscle memory and drastically altering the previous layout (i.e. page numbering now bottom right corner, vertical with the zoom function where it was on the menu bar at the top) is not an improvement as it turns a simple task into an irritating faff that costs time (and therefore money) to overcome. I'd love to remap their keyboards and see how they feel about it. Might not be so quick to reinvent a wheel that works.
I'm not sure why yours would switch itself back to the new style automatically. On mine, once I click "Menu" followed by "Disable new Acrobat" it stays on the old layout. I tried it on 2 different computers and on the newest versions of Adobe Acrobat Reader and Adobe Acrobat Pro. I totally agree with you about not wanting developers to make drastic changes to things we have grown accustomed to. I have posted several videos over the years about how to get the old Windows 7 style Start Menu back because the new Start Menus that have come out since Windows 8 have made me Nuts! Have a great weekend :)
Thanks, just unlucky I guess. I did get it work before after I upgraded in an attempt to fix an error. Then I think a reboot got it to update.... hmmm I wonder if I have auto update settings on or off.... @@JasonBagnell
Thanks. The new version sucked. Y'all be sure to fill out the feedback form. Sometimes companies listen. Not YT though. They haven't made any real impreovements since 2015 . I HATE SHORTS!! And I'll never be able to see full titles on teh TV app again, apparently. Oh and there's the black bar now. genius. 😠
You're welcome! Sometime I wonder "What were they thinking?" when the make changes like this? Do they ever use their own products? I'm glad someone else agrees with me. Have a great day! -- Jason
