I don't have a keyboard button, don't have clickpad settings and I don't have "Compliant Touch Pad" in my device manager. I do have "PS/2 Compatible Mouse" and I can uninstall it, but I can't just disable it like I can my other mouse right above it. It's very strange.
@Broockle From what I've been been seeing, it's impossible to disable the touch-pad on modern devices...So I just ripped it out by the cords and burned it. Maybe that is an extreme reaction, but that's how angry I got after "mis-clicking" my touch pad and causing my weapon to fire...in a stealth game...we're I'm not allowing myself to save or reload...so I literally had to restart the entire game...thanks windows, I hope you burn in hell
@@michaelkidd8746so I found a way if you go to additional settings and don’t turn on the disabled pointing device when another usb there will be a button called click pad disable if you put that then it will work but remember to turn it back on if you are done with the game bcz it makes the touch pad unresponsive and need a mouse to use the laptop
These are great suggestions. Operating systems can be different depending on version. Similarly, if you're using Windows 10 Pro, In your laptop's bottom left screen "Type here to search"; Search: “Touchpad” Then on the right side of the results: Under “Related settings”, click on “Additional settings” This brings up “Mouse Properties”. Click on “Advanced”, and click on “Advanced feature settings” This brings up “Advanced feature settings” Click on the “Others” tab. You’ll see “USB mouse connection”. Click on the box beside “Touch Pad is automatically invalidated” That will stop the touch pad from working.
F7 nor Function + F7 worked on HP Pavilion Notebook. Disabling the internal pointing device worked immediately. Thanks for the answer that will increase my productivity on this little stinker of a notebook. 🙃

Just lost 15 minutes work due to accidentally touching the touchpad while typing. Sadly, none of the suggestions made are available on my Windows 10 laptop. Best way of disabling the touchpad appears to be a hammer. Also, I'm intending to change to Linux before too much longer. Windows is a pain in the arse these days.
If you can't find it, kindly update your snaptics device driver from device manager under mice and other pointing device..... I was having same issue but was solved immediately i update my driver
I've been trying to disable the touchpad for some time now. Nothing seems to work. I don't have the option to disable touchpad when mouse is plugged in.
If I install the Elan drivers I can disable the touchpad in settings by selecting "More touchpad settings" then selecting the Elan tab and selecting "Stop device" but a few minutes later the touchpad is enabled again all by itself.

Hello, ok erm so my cursor like clicks itself- i tried to fix it and my touch screen is broken too when i open the settings it doesnt show controls like your settings
The settings may differ from laptop to laptop, however, if your touchscreen is broken then its possible that your touchscreen might be causing the cursor to click itself.
@@arc1906 If you are finding the cursor is disappearing when you're on the internet and if you're using Google Chrome or Microsoft edge or a chromium-based browser then there is a known bug which causes the cursor to intermittently disappear. Try using Firefox as your browser and see if that fixes the problem.

Some laptops don’t have this try clicking the start button then click Touchpad and see if there are settings there, if not contact your laptop manufacturer.
