Awesome video. Breaking mine down this winter for a new crank and some maintenance. Pushing my stock bottom end to the limits. 8000 rpm going through the finish line at the track. Time for stronger parts lol

Quick Question... I think I heard you say you can change tranny mainshaft bearing without having to tear engine down off bike and split it. Is this just by removing the snap ring and using puller? Thanx for the Vids guys Keep up the Great work

Rubber Mount vs solid mount witch do you like better?

Check out the xlforum. Hammer post there too and it is THE Sporty resource online. I'm not shilling, they just kick ass. Solid mount engines have MANY more performance options than rubbermounts and weigh a lot less. They also vibrate but such is life.

Do you think the rubber mount motor is better than the solid mount ?

Riding one of the rubber mounts is certainly more comfortable. But as far as the engine itself, there are some cost reductions that make it less desirable. Specifically, the lack of a transmission trap door on all 2004+ models, and the lifter anti rotation setup on all 2006+ models. Really the best cases are the 2000-2003 versions. They still had the trap door and they had the screw-in lifter pins. On the other hand, the 2004+ XL1200 heads are based on Buell XB heads and are the best heads HD ever put on Sportsters, where the 1988-2003 XL1200 heads are the worst heads HD ever put on Sportsters. Different people prefer solid vs. rubber mount for different reasons. At the end of the day, it's a personal choice.

I want to install on my 2009 sporty the new Vtwin kick starter kit. www.vtwinmfg.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/VTwinProd5_10101_10102_3416852_-1_143311_143957_143972_143973 I need to change the tranny mainshaft but it's a lot of work!! what do you suggest to do it easier? is it possible to machine the original mainshaft without disassemble tranny??
