Thanks for the video, but rotating this laptop and scratching noises from the cover makes me cringe. Please use some cloth or something next time to separate the laptop from the table.
Thanks for the teardown vid. One thing I'd say is it would not be well advised to use thermal paste on the VRAM. If someone needs to watch this kind of video they may not know about thermal pastes and therefore conductivity that is possible depending on what you use. Don't get me wrong, you could use it but you've gotta be careful.
I've had an issue where my laptop turns on with a black screen. The keyboard will light up but nothing else. Then I press the off button and the fans boot up for a few seconds and it turns off. I've tried to replace everything. Ssd, ram. Nothing is bringing it back to life. Any ideas? I used this video to disassemble it. Even bought a new cmos battery. Thanks for the video anyways!
Like Emad below, I was hoping for a mention of the GPU. It appears there is no definitive info on the Web about whether the discrete GPU can be removed or upgraded, or where it is located, and as these computers age people are going to want to upgrade them. Even Dell chose to not mention the GPU in their service manual. The machine is too expensive to be disposable.
It is soldered to the motherboard, it's one of the two chips that are underneath the heatsink assembly. Replacing it means replacing the entire motherboard, sadly.

If you do try to go for the bare LCD, just be careful with that bezel, they are very thin and are usually heavily glued on the bottom part.

I payed the original lcd 70 dollars and the rest 130 is my patience to unglue the thing Also this is 9750 and mine is 7590, so I was not sure of compatibility even if it seemed to be right? I went safe with the right lcd
