How do you clean the germs and bacteria out of a jetted or whirlpool tub? Here is a simple, effective method that is safe, green, and non-toxic way to disinfect your jetted tub.
Use a dishwasher tablet and run the bath, make sure it’s quite warm as you want the tablet to dissolve completely. Empty the bath and fill and rinse the bath by running it with water only, it should be clear and no debris or deposits. If it still has bits then empty and flush again.
I am a college student studying biology and after becoming aware of what was really lurking inside of my parents jetted tub i decided I needed to clean it and so I began to research what biofilm is and what products are out there to clean it. One thing I have learnt is that removing biofilm is difficult and require a product that is chemically formulated to specifically remove biofilm. The product that worked best for me was Oh Yuk, it has been tested and proven to remove bacteria and biofilm
@Omar Zazzle Learnt and learned are both used as the past participle and past tense of the verb to learn. Learned is the generally accepted spelling in the United States and Canada, while the rest of the English-speaking world seems to prefer learnt.
@@FranPaliottaThank you for the great information in your post. Also, I have "learnt" there is always an internet troll out there that has to be a #$%&.
The latest tubs filter the water while they are running with an ultra violet light to kill bacteria and an ozone cleaning system to further clean the water. After the tub is drained, back-flush systems further cleans and dries the plumbing automatically.

Wow anyone notice how expensive this stuff is! Best advice go to a pool store that specializes in spa's. Im sure they will have something there to clean. I heard spa purge works well, but make sure to speak to your local pool store before dumping any chemicals in you spa tub. Also make sure you rinse thoroughly after cleansing and sanitizing. Don't waste your money on this. It's a scam, and WAY too expensive.
< What if i pour X-14 in the tub instead of bleach or detergent? X-14 is an off the shelf spray cleaner which kills and removes mold and mildew. What if i run x14 through the jets?
What about the black particle things that come out of the jets? How do i clean it out and how do i prevent the black goop particles from coming back every time??
Those black particles are residue from biofilm. Which is stagnant water forming this gel like substance. This is the dirty sectets most whirlpool /bubble baths has. So you need to clean the jets before and after each bath. Using o yuck to clean the piping. Then while you bath use a tablet of clorine disolved in the bath water. Then you should be good to go.
Spam. I notice, too, that on your Oh Yuk promotional video, you're screening comments. All of the commenters there joined RU-vid at the same time and have a single comment on the entire site - on your video.
