How to dismantle a Sofa Bed Mechanism on a DFS sofa.
In this video i'll show you How to remove a Sofa Bed Mechanism on a 3 Seater Sofa bed.
After that I will show you how to remove the Sofa Arms so the sofa
can be carried easily and taken to the Household Recycling Tip.
As a complete Sofa it is very heavy and hard to lift. By disassembling the sofa bed it is easy for one person to get it out of a property and into the back of a Van.

I’m so happy, I could cry! I’ve been waiting for over three years to get my monstrosity out of a room! And this is it?! 😳 I haven’t looked at our sofa bed yet, but it can’t be any more complicated even if it’s a bit different. If I can pull this off, I can die a happy woman. Of course, I’m only 56 so I hope that won’t be too immediately! 😉 This was a very nice video, too. Short and simple, but still a thorough demonstration. Thanks!

Very helpful! I'm renovating my RV and wanted to remove the bed part from the ugly old outside and rebuild the frame in the RV. Thanks to your video I know it won't be too hard to take apart!

To avoid all of that messing around at the end, after removing the screws and loosening the bolts (the rails are slotted and will slide off the bolts) watch your fingers and retract the bed into its original position. Then slide the rails off the bolts and out it comes

I used this video to see how to assemble our sofa bed 😄. Our movers lost the long screws. Before I take screenshot of it to the tools shop, would you remember what size they were, please?

Eliza Vlachou Unfortunately not but take a small object like a nail or knitting needle then poke that into the hole and measure it, at least you will get the length correct. With regards to width you will have to get a few different ones. If not sure go slightly bigger as its wood it should create a new thread/bite. Good luck

Would there would be any issue then putting it back together if all the bolts and screws were kept? I need to dismantle to be able to remove from my house due to the size of the entry and put back together in the new house!

That’s no problem, quite an easy job. If I was you I’d use your phone and take a photo of what bolts/screws go where. Then when you put it back together it will be much easier!

Does this tend to be pretty universal? I am looking at purchasing an older sleeper sofa that is too big to fit in my apartment. But I think I could move it like this if everything works similarly! Thanks for the great video!

Not sure, be risky to buy one and then it doesn’t fit in your place!
