We show you how to DIY Kitchen Cabinets in this Complete Kitchen Remodel. We have to completely rebuild the kitchen that was damage in the Wixom Michigan floods, we either need to do it right or don't do it at all so we gutted all the cabinets and appliances and will be building new kitchen cabinets and completely remodel the kitchen.
A word from our Sponsors~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Your one stop for all your outdoor tools, GreenWorks! bit.ly/Greenwor... Big thanks to Greenworks for being a long time supporter of our channel, I really do use their tools a lot, and really like them!
Thanks to CabinetParts for supplying all the hardware: www.cabinetpar...
That's all...click the links....they keep these videos free for you!~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Today we will build all the lower and upper cabinet carcasses from 3/4" UV pre-finished plywood, build all the face frames for those cabinets from poplar and put General Finishes Enduro Polyurethane color on the face frames and cabinets that need the color.
We will transport everything up north to the lake house and show you how to install kitchen cabinet uppers and lowers. We need to install the face frames on those cabinets and then bolt the uppers to the wall at the correct laser measured height. Then the lowers get installed using shims and the laser again.
Finally we install all the drawers (which will be another video, make sure you stay tuned!) using all the hardware from Http://www.CabinetPart....
We have a bunch of other videos coming in this complete kitchen rebuild so make sure you subscribe!

If anyone was wondering, at this point there is about $2000 into materials at this point. Mind that the hardware and the finish was supplied, so I only paid about $1400. I already have all the supplies for the doors included in that price so it is a very budget friendly build!

I don't have those tools either. I have a super cheap table saw, a dowel jig, circular saw, jig saw, and hand nailed everything together. The carcass is easy. I assembled the carcass in place, then made the 13' long face frame to fit. Looks great! Made floating panel doors, turned out good as well.

Greetings from Ohio. First, great video as always! Regarding the chip out - it occurs because this material, as well as those with a laminate finish, has a surface that is solid and brittle. When cutting either of those materials with a traditional cut, as the blade brings through the material underneath, the material brought up from below the surface busts through the hard surface layer, causing it to chip. A sure fire way to get clean cuts is to lower the saw blade so it goes through the surface layer and maybe a 16th lower and make a scoring cut, then raise the blade and make the through cut (flip the board to each side before cutting through if both sides of the material are finished). Because the blade isn't pulling through all that material underneath there is no blow out. Takes a little extra time but worth the effort. You will attain perfect cuts every time with no tear out. God speed.

Great work man!!!!! I'm an (Traveling)ER Nurse with over 2 decades under my belt but I'm sorta getting burnt out from it. I've been off for 5 months redoing/remodeling my house. Working on the kitchen now. I'd love to make my own cabinets since the quality is price dependent. Maybe do 1-2 more travel contracts to make $30-40k and take another break and dump $2-3k into the wood working tools like you have. You make it look fun!

@@scottslotterbeck3796 I'm almost done with my kitchen. I finally made my own cabinets! Just need to make the sink cabinet and center island cabinet. Doors will be custom made by a mail order company since I tried and It's too hard to make the tennins correctly. Had to walk away from the kitchen to work. Nursing contract ends July 16th. Been away from my house for 5 months now. Looking forward to finishing up the kitchen and seeing what else i can do with wood instead of ER Nursing.

Very nice! Recommend the pocket holes on the outside of the sides of the cabinets so you can’t see them when you look inside.
@1982MCI
@1982MCI 3 года назад
That’s the same way I do mine and then for the end cabinets, I just put a skin over that one side of the cabinet and then you’ll never see a pocket hole anywhere. If you use filler as Tyler did and then paint, you will still see that there was a hole there that has been filled in certain lighting conditions and from certain angles. You just can’t completely hide them by filing the way he did. But if the end of the cabinet is not in plain sight, then it’s fine

@@jameshattey1445 that's right on! I had an old small table saw that we used for cutting the timber for our house's roofing. here is a quick tip build all your base cabinets square boxes 30.5" high and build a toe kick 4" and install your toe kick to the floor and level this way you just place the cabinets on top of the toe kick not only is it quicker you get more yield out of a 4x8 sheet 3 sides instead of 2

nice job. one tip I use when hanging cabinets: getting your laser inline and then run a straight edge on the wall like a 2x4 and you can rest the back of the cabinet its the easiest way I think to hang all your cabinets
@mdgreer6640
@mdgreer6640 3 года назад
I agree with Roberto. Or, I cut a 2x6 the height off the bottom cabinets and use that to hold the uppers while I attach them to the studs. If your building from the studs, be sure to put nail backer boards, I use 2x10's, the full width of the cabinets so you can screw anywhere.

Always amazed how much work this traditional cabinet making is. Buying a modern kitchen carcas saves you so much money and time beyomd belief. The carcas wont make the kitchen style, the top and faces make it. IKEA sells a carcas for a price lower than yours probably and come with more modern way to install them (rails on the wall, adjustable feet, space behind backpanel). But that is my point of view from across the atlantic. But the fun and satisfaction is most possibly in the process not only the endgoal. Way to go T!

The only thing I could add is the sink base (if I was building it would not have the middle in it. I would add it to one of the doors instead. I have had to work on drains, garbage disposals and RO Water systems under the sink and they are a huge problem (for me) as we get older we (I) tend to get wider and not having that part of the frame there is a huge help. I hope there is never a need to have to get under the sink to do any service but I have never had a house that did not require some time down there doing something...

I love your child. You are a lucky man. I dowel all my face frames but your method is probably faster.

very good video bro, and well explained, one question and sorry for the trouble, how much money do you spend approximately on all the material to make that kitchen? I ask you because I am going to start manufacturing the one for my house, and where do you usually buy the wood materials? greetings and thanks.

No backs inside the cabinets?

Nope, only on the peninsula. Lot of material I didn't think we needed to spend on.

Hi…how did the glue hold up? Design stage at the moment but plan on using the pre-finished birch plywood as well. Many thanks in advance

Have thought about a spray booth, maybe! Typically I have small projects, or HUGE ones like this that wouldn't fit into anything I would setup! Thanks for watching Craig.

Question about those fancy cap/mixer/pourer for the gallon paint buckets. Do you just leave them on as the new paint cap, meaning you have one for each opened paint can, or do you take them off each time you are done and clean?

When cutting with the track saw you can avoid tear out by first cutting a very shallow line with minimal depth and in opposite direction before the actual cut.

What keep drawer slide jig you use ? As the one I have doesn’t seem like you can put the slide on it and then screw them in. U have to set the slide on top

Hi,Tyler.It's interesting to watch process of your job,you are very skilled guy.Could you explain me some points: 1.Do you have any national approvals to construction of kitchen cabinets or they could be constructed other way? 2.Do you use Blum or any other European furniture? 3.Do you need to choose some special area for manufacturing the furniture or you can do it on your backyard without any claims from your neighbors?

Tyler question, I have about 50 cabinets throughout my house I've had 7 years. The cabinets are 30 years old and need to all be refinished. I don't want to paint the white but want to refinished the satin and varnish. The doors have a lot of design that will take a long time to remove and prepare to stain. Is it easier just to buy new faces or to just suck it up and take time sanding. What are your thought on sandblasting and sand to stain?
