I'm confident your channel will grow fast. You have such a natural teaching style and very personable in front of camera. I'm probably at intermediate level but want to absorb as much as possible and your tutorials are a joy to watch. I look forward to more content and keep up the fantastic work !
So here I am, having my midlife crisis, deciding to become a DJ after a decade long break from the stage, and I find videos like this really helpful. Song choice is the most important thing, but tasteful transitions and making your tracks have cool interplay is what separates DJs from spotify playlists. Thanks for giving me a lot to think about.
Mate, thanks so much for this video! I’m 19 and just bought my first controller, couldn’t stop smiling just watching you do this!! Can’t wait to get started! Subscribed :)
You should check out my course. I just added a new creative mixing and 3 deck component with FX and also what you mentioned a deconstruction of this exact set :) Consider the free content like foreplay, now you see what it's about are you willing to go the distance :)
I've been daydreaming for quite some time about DJing and spreading good vibes to a crowd, and last week I finally got the opportunity to borrow a friends controller and speakers to play around with. It was actually a harder than I thought but after a couple of hours I am able to do some nice transitions. Much thanks to your channel. Your video on How to Mix Tech House is awesome too and helped me get over a few hurdles. Looking forward to more content!!
I was looking a lot of videos about getting as a newbie dj and you are helping me a lot with your channel, it makes me feel like im getting a thousand euros course but instead im getting it for free and it really helps for those djs that our economy isn't the best, thank you so much, cheers from Spain!
Haha - I guess YT is starting to see my channel's getting some support and is pushing me further up the ranks and maybe I am being seen more. Either way, I really appreciate your support, thank you!
Thank you so so much! I just got my first deck and have been watching various tutorial videos, some of which left me feeling very baffled and confused, but watching your video has made such a difference! You teach and explain everything perfectly and I will definitely be watching your videos to help me on my DJing journey!
thanks man I am brand new to this, I love acid techno, your youtube videos are amazing, I can learn from everything ;) I am sure this channel will have many followers soon
Hello, I've been fascinated by the music playing for several years. I'd really like to learn that. Rather for me and to be able to stand up in friends and acquaintances. My goal is not to make money with it, but to do it as a hobby to have fun on and with the music. Now I'm wondering if I'm too old for that. I'm 42 years old and probably already a grandpa on this subject. What do you mean? Does it still make sense to deal with it? I like your videos very much and they make me even more interested in trying it out. My wife will probably declare me crazy 😂😂😂
Really great video. I haven't dj'd for about 15 years and still have all of my dnb and breaks vinyl. I really like the equipment that is used here so I'm not sure if to invest in something similar or get vinyl decks seeing as I have a large collection.
Thank you thank you! I really appreciate you sharing your knowledge for people considering becoming a DJ without commitment. You explain this very well where I can understand. Keep doing what your doing. Definitely subbed 👍
I started learning to DJ 5 months ago. Because I’m new, I purchased a Flx4 but at the local college, we were using CDJ 3000 Nexus. Now they I want to learn more, using the FLX4 seems very underwhelming and feel as if I’m not growing. Is it just me or should I just move to the XZ or maybe Opus? My goal is to play at bars/clubs.
Do you have a video that explains how to mix between tracks that are not produced in the same key? Because obviously we can't just look for the matching key in our Rekordbox collection and only play those through an entire set every time.. or can we?
i thought the jog was to adjust the bpm momentarily (and the pitch to do it permanently), you can also fast fwd or rewind the track with the jog? do you have to activate a mode or something for that?
If you touch the jog wheel on the side it will change the BPM momentarily, if you touch the top of the jog wheel and move it then it "fast forward or rewinds" where the track is.
Momentarily yes, but as you move the jog wheel and slow/speed a track down, you’ve still sped it/slowed it down so the track is now permanently further forward/back. That’s how you get beats to line up. Using the tempo slider makes a permanent change to the speed of a song, the jog wheel just speeds/slows it momentarily so you can make minor adjustments while beat matching.
People who only take out the bass (not use the mids and highs), like taking the bass down the whole way, but personally I like using the whole EQ to mix in, which means I can afford to keep some of the bass's warmth in the mix and by taking the bass all the way out, I find it can make the sound a little tinny. I have videos in my course that breaks everything down in a big big way and I show comparisons between using volume faders and bass, compared to using the whole EQ.
@@ClubReadyDJSchool OK, yes sure that does make scense. But when you swapped basses and you later on cut the song you mixed out of, doesn't it feel empty because suddenly there is only the bass of your new song and the bit of bass you let in the mix with your eq is now missing? I hope you understand what i mean ^^
@@lukaneinohnein7248 i feel the same, you go from having 1.5 bass (the track playing and the one coming in) to only 1 bass (just the track that came in, cause you pulled the other one out), and can feel a bit empty. I trying doing the transition slowly so it doesn't feel all of a sudden something is missing, or building a bit of space before the full transition with some filter, and then do a bit of a drop.
Serato's great, no need to switch :) I started out on Serato and it's not that Rekordbox is better than Serato, the only reason I personally switched to Rekordbox is so I could use USBS in clubs - but you can cross that bridge when you come to it - no need to switch until it becomes necessity.
Serato will work great with your computer. All I am saying is, if you wish to play in clubs and want to use USB sticks, you need to prepare your music for USB with Rekordbox.
Trance is a genre I love to listen to but its so hard to mix compared to House. When I mess with the EQ I go slow and slowly switch them. I tend to switch the high EQ first because the mid is the main sound and switching that or the bass first sounds a bit off, I don't know. Could be that I don't have any speakers yet, I only mix with my headphones on.
