One of the better tutorials I’ve seen. Clearly explained and demonstrated. If I was a noob/novice I can see how this would be helpful. I’ve watched a few tutorials over the years, mainly to see what bad advice these so called tutors are giving to new DJs. I was pleased to hear and see you know exactly what you’re talking about. Spot on 👌

Sometimes vocals on vocals work because it's about the energy of the vocals.

@@thomasdinkelkorn6935 yes. You can play them as a duet bud.. I do it quite a lot. Just one example of two tracks that do it, pick your battles by petit biscuit & Diplo and pray by sunnery James & Ryan Marciano.

Absolutely easy to understand. Though, I think what all are missing out is that you actually need to hot-cue basically much of every single one of your songs to actually KNOW when are these phrases exactly at, right?

Would have been a lot better for educational purposes if you mixed in the new track when track A was ending, as this is what we'd actually be doing when DJing, not mixing in 2 intros. Or am I missing something? Apart from that, I do like your explanation, as it has given me a lot more insight, so thank you!

One can mix or use any part of any track. Demonstration purposes aside, no one should think about "intros and outros" essentially made specifically for DJing....to make it easier to mix out of something. The middle of track, or somewhere after the bridge should be where you practice mixing, where the opportunity to use phrasing creatively exists. Think of vocal samples, for examples....a "call and response" type of thinking. Practice mixing things in with your EARS. Nothing else. Figure out where to match your 1's where there's a separation in melodic structure (including vocals). Counting 4 bar loops /16 beats, and understanding what happens inside of that duration will help you. They are different, and usually obvious when instrumentation drops in or out. Get a feel for that, and it'll make way more sense.

Never heard of a double drop dude?

@@interstellaraudiodnb Dude I don't know much about DJing at all, which is why I ask "am I missing something?" Music doesn't come naturally to me, and I find mixing a lot harder than I imagined it to be. A music background I'm sure would do well as a foundation. So no, I have never heard of a double drop.
@interstellaraudiodnb
@interstellaraudiodnb 2 года назад
@@richardcates8605 apologies, my tone was completely unnecessary. A double drop is when you would let two tracks “drop” at the same time and perhaps play the bass from one and the high end from the other track to create a mix. Popular in the type of music I play, drum and bass. These days even triple drops are popular but that’s beyond my talents. Once again, my apologies, and best of luck on your journey of mixing. Happy to do anything I can that could be valuable to you.
