@@CardMan91 when you bring your arms down and let them sit there for a second. This goes for nearly every workout. Don’t fully extend, because you’re resting for that time extended. So when you go all the way down with bicep curls, it stops working the bicep at a certain range and is resting. Same thing going up, the higher you go up the more it starts to work shoulders. So when you’re benching as well for example, when you go all the ways down to your chess, you’re straining your shoulders more and resting the pectoral muscles at the same time, you want to have constant tension. When you go all the ways up, you’re not working the chest as much, should only go close to lockout, but not fully locking out your arms with bench
When I started I did all this correct form except one thing...I never rotated the freaking dumbbells, I just had them both facing parallel to me the whole exercise...once I broke that habit and started with them perpendicular and rotated them as I lifted like he does, it became so much easier and a good bit more effective.
If you’re OK with it, can you tell me one thing? I’ve done this method, and another one where the dumbbells are facing forward from the get-go, I don’t rotate them. They’re straight forward. Which one is more effective, and does it make a difference..? (Personally I’ve felt about the same, with the other technique feeling slightly more effective than the one in this vid, but that may vary from person to person)
Thank you so much sir. You taught the basic very clearly almost like a personal trainer in just 2 minutes. Amazing video and amazing clarity in teaching. Keep it up and I owe you a lot.
@@w.n5504 you got time lil bro, so if you wanna be even more forward-thinking, I'd say it's even better to start trying to develop good habits overall, especially ones that play into working out, like time management, eating habits, taking advantage of motivation, etc etc. Regardless, gl homie, be careful if you ever do squats, and don't deadlift ✌✌
First you have to reduce weight before exercise it won't make a difference just reduce all the carbs you eat meaning no more chips no more cookies and not to many fruit just eat whole wheat oatmeal for breakfast grab a apple some almonds and a Greek yogurt for lunch and eat something like a healthy sandwich with whole wheat bread then workout
Xavier Qader Nope, he can do it without "reducing" weight, and its better to start while he's fat than start after losing weight (which means losing fat AND muscle). Fat people have more muscle than skinny ones.
I was gonna do this exercise at the gym today with the intention of alternating between each arm, not realizing it was advisable to engage them simultaneously. Cheers!
Tried dumbbell curls my own way for 2 weeks felt nothing in bicep then searched RU-vid and used your way and instantly felt it properly work thanks very much!
Thank you for this. At the gym the other day, I could overhear a couple of guys talking [mess] because my form was bad. Basically, although I was lifting moderately heavy dumbbells, I wasn't working the full range on the bicep because I was going one arm at a time, pulling the weight up to my shoulder, which basically gave me breaks both at the top, and ay thr bottom of each movement. Your simple explanation of proper form helped me do a far more efficient workout. Thank you!
Really helpful demonstration. I looked this up as I only recently started working this exercise but I wasn't getting anything from it. 2 minutes later and I find it's because I've been doing them incorrectly. Thanks! I look forward to hopefully getting results now.
It's very important to use all three different hand grips when developing your biceps. How different hand postions work the biceps: - Perform some of your bicep dumbbell curl with a supinated grip to emphasize Biceps Brachii - Perform some of your bicep dumbbell curl with a pronated grip to emphasize Brachialis - Perform some of your bicep dumbbell curl with a hammer grip to emphasize Brachioradialis
I can't tell you how thankful I am for this video for the longest time I was just throwing them up then back down thinking that was the proper way to do it
This is the best workout trainer I've ever watched thus far. Very detailed and carefully explaining the steps one by one. I won't want him as my personal trainer though, I won't be able to concentrate with all his hotness!! ;-)
been going back to the gym for 3 months using gym machines but i wanna start doing some free weights great clear videos ty :) even if this video is 8+ years old soon
What's good about how cast (especially for stuff like this) Is they're not trying to sell you anything, this is proper technique and there isn't some guy with an unnatural amount of muscle and an 8 pack. Good vid
I know the video is nearly a decade old But thank you for posting this. I've recently decided to do better in disciplining myself with working out, but ive never had a mentor or coach to show me proper ways to lift
