Iverson caught so many because they KNEW how fast he was...you were always in danger of getting left in the dust. His speed and ability to read the defender made him UNFAIR to guard one on one 😎
Only one who said,,, I have kids,,he ain't gonna embarrass me,,I'm let him go & let him do what he do,,,was Paul Peirce...check out the video he did talking about Iverson...I respect his opinon
Another tip that people never mention about Iverson's crossover-his wingspan was at least 6 feet 4 inches long. His arms were pretty long for someone who stands at 5'10" or 5'11"
Exactly, his wingspan and hip flexibility made his crossover unstoppable and free flowing because those two genetic factors allowed him to take a giant step both side to side and forward at the same time. His first step was very elongated almost like doing a casual split which made faking the drive easy. As soon as the defender opens to stop the baseline drive boom he immediately crosses over because the top foot is exposed.
He wasn't tht wicked if he didn't make the nba but mad respect n salute 2 a.i. for giving his man the props for letting every1 know he wasn't the inventor thats mad love 😊
You see that first frame w Kerry kitties, that putter step is very important I’ve never been fast/quick in my life. But that stutter step to the either side is very vital
Iverson got his crossover when he came to Georgetown the DC area made that crossover since I was a kid look it up he actually says this #DMVCREATESTHEBESTBALLERS
Point that’s missed is AI was one those players that had a quick first step, and even quicker 2nd step. So even with a basic cross he has at least 3-4 moves he can make to follow up with. With just having that foot speed.
I think AI is misunderstood, hes compared to other "handles" goats. His main quality is his speed and mid ranger jumper. Without his speed those moves wont work. Its not the flashiest handles but it doesnt need to be.
Nobody on the internet can't do his killer crossover as smooth as ai does they can imitate the do footwork but none of them youtubers can't kinda palm the ball way ai does his style is the best imo for the pointguards who focus on scoring nowadays most guards be overdriblling which is inefficient
@@MyronMagnusits a carry until they changed how they officiated it his secound year in the league for it to be legal tim donaghy explains it in a interview. Its a carry
It is a carry they had to change the way rules were officiated his secound year in the league for it to be legal. Tim donaghy explains it in a interview.
I used to play ball against this kid with a Afro, he had a mean crossover and omg when he went for it all those head fakes threw me off when that hair was loose. His father was our basketball coach and the kid was good too, Kevin Hall. This was in the early 2000s when AI was in his prime, every one was doing the And1 stuff, White Chocolate behind the back passes… good times
ai is good but its a carry because the ball pauses at the top of his dribble. the nba lets it go because hes a big name. in his early years they called it allot more often. plus his hand does go under on some of them.
@@SEBMC_0 it’s a hesi now but back then it was called a carry. Dribbling rules were strict, refs didn’t know what he was doing but older players got it banned especially after he crossed jordan
Not a carry/walk in sight.. hand was never under the ball, feet never moved without dribbling! Literally just a Hesi with a high dribble.. not even really high, you're just in a crouching stance..
@@bernardwade8096 That's not what he's doing. According to the official rules, the hand can't not manipulate the spin of the ball. U dribble on top of the ball, not from the side. AI even holds it for a split second in his hand before crossing over. That's a carry.
@rmx.indiana8306 according to you Hardaway's crossover would be a carry. Tim brings the ball around his leg to the front. A.I. doesn't hold the ball he dribbles it higher.
@@bernardwade8096 One, it's not according to me, it's according to the official rules of basketball. Two, Tim Hardaway's crossover, he never carries the ball. A.I. does. Don't get me wrong I loved watching A.I. play, but his crossover was a travel. The rules keep getting more bent and more broken ever since the 90's. It's just progressively getting worse. It's not even basketball anymore, it's a streetball pick-up game
@rmx.indiana8306 Tim has carried the ball before I've seen it. 2nd A.I. has done Tim's crossover before it's not hard to do. 3rd Tim starts with a crossover that goes behind his leg in order to get it in front of his leg which he does you have to carry the ball. A.I. just lets the ball bounce higher then he crossover.
