This was so helpful. Just knowing there is someone else out there experiencing this at Disney made me feel so less alone. I'm use to planning activities around my meals. My poor family is always pointing out restrooms for me just in case I missed one. They're so patient with me.
I suffer from really bad IBS and recommend getting an accessibility pass. My IBS is so bad that any line over 30 minutes is generally impossible for me. The pass allows me to *wait* the line while not physically being in line. It helps with anxiety but also allows me to take care of myself while enjoying the rides!
This is great advice. IBS is one of the many invisible disabilities, conditions, or diseases covered by DAS....it's a wonderful tool that allows many people to make the most of their park visits.
I had my gallbladder removed 3 years ago after a gallbladder attack and sometimes I’m good & sometimes I’m hitting the bathroom several times a day. Also I have HBP and the meds can have you on the go, so I will definitely take advantage of the disability access. Thanks for making this video!
THANK YOU!! I have had IBSD now for about 15 years and people just think it is a disease where my tummy gets upset. And it's far more than that. People do not understand that we often have to miss out on things when we know the bathroom situation will be an issue. At Christmas I had to miss out on my towns tree lighting ceremony because my stomach was bothering me and I knew it would be difficult to find a bathroom. And I just ordered tickets for a Broadway show and had to get tickets further back so I could get seats on the end in case I needed to go to the bathroom. And I feel guilty for complaining because my niece suffers with Chrones and that is far worse that what I have to go through. But it is a very real issue.
IBS can be a very complex health concern. There are a lot of things to consider when you are traveling with IBS. Thankfully Disney has many ways to help make your vacation more comfortable and Christine had tons of great tips too!
Sorry to hear that -- I do hope Christine's tips will be very helpful. My two fave tips are using the allergy menus to identify your trigger foods so you can avoid them and using meditation/music/game apps to help calm you while traveling or using Disney transportation. What's your favorite tip?
Thank you so much for making this video because my IBS is so bad I have to wear diapers because of it, even though Im younger it still embarrasses me to have an accident in front of everybody, so I think it’s best to wear them especially during long vacations and if you eat a kind of food that sets it off. This really helps me for when I go to DisneyLand. Thanks ❤️
You are welcome. Lots of folks have similar struggles. It's good to know you are not alone. If you haven't already, consider giving your doctor a call before you travel to fund out if there are things you can do to make your trip more comfortable.
You make videos for concerns I would have never even thought of. Your channel is truly a marvelous resource for people from all walks of life, I hope you’re proud of that! Nobody is overlooked by the Plus Size Fairy Godmother!! Nice to see you back in my subscription box :)
Thank you so much for being a subscriber! I hope to work with many more vloggers in the future to continue to bring you more specialized content like this video provides.
Wow this was really great! I'd love for my parents to come with on a family trip to Disney, but she suffers from IBS and I worry that it'll cause her to think she should not come! I'm going to save this video to share with her when the time comes - thank you!
I have a gastro problem and my friend convinced me to get a DA$. Best advice it made me feel so mu h better not having the anxiety of standing in line. So happy to see you back and looking so well and beautiful.
The DAS is almost too good to be true! I love how straight-forward it is, it's the true virtual queue... you're waiting just as long as anyone else, just not in the line. And I love that it has no real benefit to people who wouldn't have a problem with the lines - you don't get on the rides any faster, you can just wait somewhere you're comfortable - so there's no real benefit for anyone to abuse the system, which hopefully means it won't become more restrictive in the future. It revolutionised my last WDW trip! I also had it on my last Disneyland trip, but I also used Maxpass, and found that actually I only used the DAS a couple of times (and on a couple of occasions, forgot I could use it when it would have helped! It's a learning curve!)
Thank you for this video. I had my gall bladder removed a few years ago. And one of the side effects is sometimes, depending on the day, having a sudden urgent need for a bathroom. These tips are so helpful!
Helpful! People often overlook IBS complication. 💯 on the morning tip - I always wake up 2-3 hours early whenever I have an important meeting or flight (for me I wake and eat and then let it clear out). 🤷🏻♀️ Can’t believe I have never heard of IvyWinter before! Yay new channel to follow!
Christine is fabulous, isn't she? So glad the info was helpful and that you've had good experiences following some of the same practices. Thank you for watching!
Great tips! Thanks Pammie for including Ivy Winter. I wish I known about first aid having a dark room. I sure could have used it two trips ago, it was not a pleasant trip back to our room to lay down. Thanks again for sharing your tips👍❤😊
Thank you SOOOO much for sharing all the great tips. I've adopted many of those over the years to deal with IBS in the parks ....learned many lessons the hard way. Loved this video!
I wish I had this before going to universal. When I finally told my group to let me stay behind and that they didn’t have to take care of me, we all enjoyed the trip so much more. I pushed myself way too hard the first day and regretted it. When I was well rested and well prepared for the day I had so much more success. As far as food went, I really wanted to eat things but knew they would make me sick. I found that having one bite wouldn’t kill me, my friends definitely didn’t mind me taking a bite, and that I could survive with not eating a full treat. On the plus side, you better believe I saved so much on food and had money left over for souvenirs. Real good info here.
Thank you for sharing your experience. I love your tip about trying a bite of something just to get the flavor rather than eating the whole thing and risk getting sick. We hope this video helps many more people. Thank you for watching!
That can be helpful but it is important to know that there are tons of bathrooms throughout the Disney parks and if you find you are in an emergency situation -- you can ask a Cast Member for immediate assistance. Use your Disney park app on your phone to filter out the bathroom locations -- you'll have a much easier time pin pointing them throughout the day. The app will even give you step by step GPS walking directions.
I do the same thing with anything that I'm worried about. It's embarrassing to me bc I'm 39 years old and I "shouldn't" have to wear them, but sometimes I have no control. And like there lady in the video said, sometimes it acts like a placebo and allows me to have a good time without worrying so much. I still want to die if it happens, but it helps some
So glad the content was helpful for you. Yes, I think you can relax -- there are tons of great ways to ensure you will be comfortable on your trip. The peace of mind Christine shares in this video is so wonderful.
Well... this was an interesting surprise. I have been enjoying Pam’s content even though I’m not plus size. I find it pretty interesting by itself, and I’m intrigued that there are people standing in line worrying about if they will fit in the ride seat becaaaause, I’m the one standing there preoccupied by my gut and if I think I’m going to have to potty inopportunely before I can get to a rest room. So thank you for slipping in content that accidentally applied to me. It really is comforting to know there are other people out there who suffer similarly to me.
Audrey -- I am so glad I was able to collaborate with Christine to make this video for you. It's a topic that tons of people asked me about, but I had no experience with -- so I turned to the expertise of a fellow Disney vlogger and experienced traveler who knew all the top tips. Since I started this channel I have been amazed by how many people have a variety of concerns about their theme park experiences -- there is so much stress revolved around travel, ride vehicles, queues, food/drink -- it's incredible that anyone manages to be completely stress free. Hopefully I will be able to create more videos that will help a wide range of people. Thank you for watching and commenting.
I was really hoping you'd mention DAS. I've taken a medication that makes me go around 8 times a day with little notice. I carefully plan my days so that I only have to use DAS once or twice a day but it has been a life saver. I'd never have been able to ride FOP without it.
OMG....Thank You!!! I was recently put on Metformin for Diabetes...and it makes my stomach so unpredictable. I'd never had stomach issues before this. It can be crippling and embarrassing. Great tips!!! I'm so glad Disney has these practices to include folks with hidden disabilities as well. This takes a load off my shoulders....now I can look forward to re-visiting 'The Happiest Place on Earth'. Thanks Christine and Pammie!
WOW!!!.. SUPER GREAT TIPS AMAZING CONTENT PAMMIE.. ITS GREAT TO SHARE WITH MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS THANK YOU SO MUCH TO YOUR LOVELY💜 FRIEND! BLESSINGS AND LOVE FROM FLORIDA BELINDA👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍.
This video brought up so many feelings. I have severe gi issues where sometimes I lose control, and any kind of anxiety makes it worse. It has caused somewhat of an agoraphobia in me. I miss out on so many things bc I'm so afraid of it happening. The bus to the parks, the lines, even just worrying about a line to the bathroom will cause such extreem anxiety which causes my gi issues. I have been trying to find what my safe foods are to try to help, but so far there is no rhyme or reason on what causes my problems. Just hearing from someone who seems around my age who has some of the same issues and has found a way to enjoy the parkd helps. I do wish there was a bathroom on all of the modes of transportation bc I had a control issue on the ferry one time. What a physical, emotional, and mental disaster that was. I can't do the ferry anymore bc of the anxiety of that happening again. I'm rambling, I'm sorry
Anxiety can be so horrible. I hope some of the tips Christine shared will help you see it is possible to enjoy the parks -- she shared many tips to reduce anxiety.
You might also find your ibs switches to the other extreme. My friend and I both have ibs...I have d and she has c. When we were at dw, I had c and she had mostly normal - for the first time in years.
I can't even imagine how painful c would be. The one thing that comforts me is the knowledge that it's only painful until I get it all out. If I didn't have that relief, that would be agony!
I can go look at it the next time I am at Magic Kingdom, but they are not allowing people to sit on them yet. I can tell you what I think about it and see if I can find someone who can answer some questions but I probably won't be allowed to sit on one of the seats. Right now, they are just for display. I do know that there will be one or maybe two trains on the coaster that will have standard roller coaster seats that tall people, large people and people with mobility concerns will find more comfortable.
Make sure you and your entire party join you at Guest Relations -- everyone needs to have their ticket or Magic Band --- Cast Members will get you set up for what you need to help make the most of your trip.
Hi Pammie, I’ve been watching you for a while and love your videos. I have a question unrelated to this video, I’m visiting Disney World for the first time on the week of Halloween 2020. I’m not really interested in the Halloween stuff but got an ok price so I decided to take the plunge, now I’m all nerves because I was just told that because of the Halloween celebrations, they may not show “the happily ever after” fireworks which are the main reason I want to visit the parks. Do you know anything about it?
The party starts just before sundown and the fireworks are themed to the Halloween party on party nights. Two to four nights a week there is no Halloween party...you can plan to come to Magic Kingdom on one of the non party nights to enjoy Happily Ever After. If your tickets are park hoppers you will be able to hop to MK for HEA fireworks. You can also view the fireworks from the Poly resort...you are far from the castle but you will see the fireworks and hear the music. Hope this helps.
Pammie, can you please do a video on DAS accommodations for Rise of the Resistance? I can’t be up before sunrise to be there at park opening. Do they give DAS if you come a little later in the morning or late afternoon? Thank you so much 😊
Thanks for sharing this with me -- I will ask about this and see what I can find out. However -- I would urge you to contact Guest Services in advance of your trip to ask for, "help planning while using DAS for an invisible disability". If you already have your tickets, hotel, and travel -- have all that handy when you call. They may be able to help you before you ever arrive - either with tips or by helping make a reservation in advance. I don't know if that is possible but it does not hurt to try. This link will take you to the WDW Disabilities page where they have a phone number and email address.... disneyworld.disney.go.com/guest-services/guests-with-disabilities/
Disney has come out and said no. You have to be in the park and get a boarding pass. Once you have one you can go to the line during your boarding time and you will get to go to the front.
@@PammiePlusParks Disney posted it on the Disneyland passholder page a week or so ago. I can try and find the post for you. Everyone in the party must be checked into the park. If you get a boarding pass when it opens at park opening you go to the ride at that time and they will let you in like any other DAS ride. It could change down the line but that is what it is currently.
@@PammiePlusParks This is the response from Disney about using DAS for ROTR on the Disneyland Annual Passholder FB page. Hi Donna. Guests who use DAS will still need to request to be part of the virtual queue when it is in use, and receive a boarding pass in addition to acquiring their DAS pass. Please see a Guest Relations Cast Member for additional assistance.
