Per usual, I find your tutorials - on just about everything - including the Choctaw - way easier to follow. I love how you always break things down and make it really simple. Thank you! 😊
That hair scarf ⛸️🫶 choctaws/s-step--I have been practicing recently nearby the wall and one day when i have the courage wean furthur away . Breaking detailing much appreciated coach julia
Another amazing explanation of such a difficult technique. Thank you for your clear, detailed demo. Such a shame you are so far away for me to have a lesson with you. You are a brilliant source of motivation for struggling or new Skaters. Thx.
This is video is literally perfect timing as im learning choctaws for my StSq, could you please do a video next for back outside choctaws? And maybe how we would incorporate choctaws into a StSq
question! at the moment when you’re about to switch feet, are you supposed to/is it ok to switch to an inside edge on the skating foot? when i was working on adult pre bronze skating skills i had such trouble with the swing roll to mohawk in the crossover sequence and got told more than once that i was accidentally doing a chocktaw 😅
@@CoachJulia it did! I had an elements/skills program and music program! I got 1st in the elements/skills program and 2nd on the music program! I’m pretty sure I would’ve gotten first on my music one if I didn’t stumble 🫠
Hello I've been watching your videos and i think your a really good coach. I noticed that in you video you side you teach. Where do you teach and how much do you charge for group and private lessons?
Chocktaws! Definitely gonna try FO chocktaws tomorrow at the rink. One thing…I just can’t seem to understand the logic behind “open” and “closed.” Not just chocktaws, but mohawks as well. Can you explain what exactly is open or closed? I think that might shed light to some key points…
I had the same question a few months ago encountering the closed Mohawk while learning the foxtrot. My ice dance coach said its whether your hips are open or closed at the end.
I actually go over this in my video. Closed Mohawks or Choctaws you step behind your gliding foot. Open Mohawks or Choctaws you step in front of your gliding foot. The end position is based upon whether you step in front (open) or behind (closed).
Hi Tammy! It is actually more based on whether your second foot is placed on the ice in front or behind of the first foot. If you step in front it is open (and this affects the hip position). If you step behind it is closed.
I try to find the quiet sessions to film on, and angle away from anyone on the ice, so that people can practice without being on camera, and so that those watching on RU-vid have a clear image of what I am teaching.
