Let me ask you, I use the same exact clear on 90% of my job. Does it Look better when you reduce it ? Never tried reducing the production clear coat
@greenreconditioning-mobile8947
Speedokote refinish network I do use reducer but just a little. Lately I have been going a little lighter on the first coat and putting in a bit more reducer for the second coat and that had been working well. Thanks for asking!

I'm supposed to take my Jeep Jl back to my dealer soon to have rock chips on my rear fenders and doors touched up by a mobile painter. The thing is she is only available on Thursday's and the temperature outside has been around 50ish degrees and under and their has been humidity in the 70s and up on every Thursday this far. Are mobile painter able to paint well in these conditions? I'm worried that if I take it to get painted in these conditions that the finish product won't turn out well. Any input from a professional would be awesome. Thank you for your time and assistance.

Nice work , my question what is the air compressor cfm are u using since ur mobile painter am a beginner too but am confused with the cfm.
@wheelsone6180
@wheelsone6180 3 года назад
Since he's only using the compressor for the paint guns it really shouldn't be a concern. When running pneumatic tools is when you need to worry about the cfm's. CFM is a measure of the flow rate of air pushed out by a compressor. It stands for cubic feet (per) minute. Usually the higher the cfm's the better. He's running an electric oil free 2hp 4gl compressor and an electric sander, so he doesn't need much cfm's. (saw that in a reply post) When running pneumatic tools like air sanders is when you will want high cfm's, the higher the cfm's the less the compressor has to work to play catch up in filling the air tank and less drag on the tools when it is playing catch up. I'm guessing he uses the clients power when he can, but with that size compressor a small generator would most likely run it with no issues.

Are you located in San Diego since you mentioned SoCal? I used to paint cars 14 years ago. I want to get back into painting cars again but I was told that they’re using water base paint. I have no clue in painting with water base. Perhaps you could do a tutorial on next video with water base paint. Thanks outstanding job on that paint by the way.
@greenreconditioning-mobile8947
Kheam Hem thanks for watching! I’m actually in Pasadena CA (north LA county) It was a bit of an adjustment when I switched to water base, the main differences are dry time is slower so u need to use a heat gun while u paint and some colors like black look blue when it first goes on but dries normal. I love it because the color match is by far the best and the finish is great. Good thought on the water base paint video, and I will plan on getting that one out. Hope that helps!

Great question, there are times when that happens but if you are careful to stay away from overhanging trees or right next to dusty areas/bushes the clear comes out nice and clean. If something does get in the clear coat it is usually minor and comes out with a light wet sand and buff. Obviously if it gets really windy or it rains I have to reschedule the job for another day. I've been doing bumper repair in Arkansas for 25 years, so I assume that the economy is pretty close to the same as WV. Once you get the hang of it, and are good, you can expect about $1000 per week as an average. My best year was in 2015, and I grossed almost $100,000, but my average for the past 15 years is about $60,000. I'd suggest you get some car lots, you can't charge as much as a retail customer, but you will normally have work. As far as price, for a car lot $200-250 is a good price, and $300-350 for retail is very fair. You want to make the price cheaper than the customers insurance deductible, that's a real good incentive. Good luck!

Im confused, you say reconditioning but I haven't seen a wheel repair, or interior repair video, nor a PDR or windshield rock chip repair, your just repairing plastic bumpers bro.
