Now sometimes you may have to align the car on that third line of the parking spot of your side mirror, or as you shown, sometimes before it. Only because all cars are of different sizes. So it will turn out different for an individual car size. I'm not one for backing up and still need practice, in spite of having a license ^.^ but I love your video, they are wonderful tutorials to have!

I’ve never reversed parked in my life. I watched this video a few times and then I was able to do it. On my third attempt to practice, I got it done. And I practiced on test day. I passed by the way.

A thing that is shown on the car that is not mentioned, but helps a lot is the blind spot mirrors they attached tot he mirrors. Get those people, they are extremely helpful and cheap( got a good pair at Walmart for $2)
Just wondering, your method lines up your shoulder in the middle of spot number 3. I've seen others that would line up the cars side mirror with the parking line of number 3. What's the difference between using either of these reference points? will the car still reverse correctly? Thanks
i think when the car is smaller it should be aligned before the line- shoulder in the middle of the spot, and it would be a larger car then u should go more forward perhaps shoulder aligned with the line int hat case.
The way I do it is much easier. I line myself up to the middle of the spot I actually want, turn all the way to the left until I see two lines in my side mirror, then I cut all the way to the right until I'm in the spot then straighten it out and I'm done, but I guess whatever works :)

Question, in the video did the driver lock the wheel to the right prior to reversing? Do we need to be in the middle of the lanes to avoid hitting parked cars in the nearby parking spot?

Imo, the more accurate reference point is the one you show in your method 2 video, although it still needs adjustment depending on car's size and parking space.
There are some incorrect things when using the standard 3 line rule method here. 1. The lateral distance to the parking spot is too close; it should be not less than 3ft. 2. The reference point shown at 1:15 is incorrect, esp when the parking spot is quite narrow. It should be when the last line of the 3rd spot is aligned with the middle of the side window. It needs adjustment, though, depending on our car's size and parking space. 3. Take a look at 2:03. If it were a parked car instead of line, your car would hit the parked car. It is a result of incorrect steps I mention previously in point 1 and 2.
daniel hdz That might be either because you are turning the wheel too slow. Try to turn it fast all the way to the right until it locks! I will be making a video on this soon.
I have not watch this video. But as my knowledge in Canada almost the driver in the left side. But in Australia in the right side. In vietnam also the right side too.

Thanks for the observation! I have talked about doing a 360 degree scan which covers everything. And then at 1:40 I have mentioned about looking in the rear view mirror which takes care of the back view. I didn't mention about looking in the rear window because not everyone is skilled to reverse the car while looking back but if someone can they should. :)
Toronto Drivers What I want to say is that in a road test, the examiner wants the driver to turn around and look in the rear window wile backing up. I have been through a lot of road tests so far and I know what they expect.

On my test day the examiner asked me to reverse park in the last slot so I didn’t have any lines to count, I didn’t know how to do the parking or how to adjust it
christine boutin Thanks! Here's the reasons why you should use the parking brake. If the car is hit while parked the parking brake will provide stability to the vehicle, and in most cases will prevent it from rolling away. If the parking brake isn't used regularly, the cables, which are located under the car can corrode and get stuck in place. This can become a big problem, as you may not be able to use the brake or the cable will snap when you try to engage it. Hope that answers your question.
