Thank you. Very interesting information about using black halftones to get a darker color. I guess this allows you to use less frames for the best end result? Thanks for this tip, personally I would have selected each color to make a print frame :-) Really great information ;-)

Whether we use water-based or oil-based inks, 30% halftones are easy to print, but 20% is also fine. For this particular artwork, we set the halftone percentage at 30% to account for dot gain, which will make the dots look like 50-60%. Generally, for spot color with halftones artwork, the halftone percentage can range between 20 and 70 depending on the final shade we want to achieve.

So was the image outline done in illustrator and then the color in Photoshop?

This art was created fully in Illustrator, but you can definitely do the image outline in Illustrator and then color it in Photoshop if you prefer.

To get a clean selection, make sure to turn off anti-aliasing wherever you see that setting.

Yes. If it’s not a vector, selecting parts won’t be straightforward.
