❤❤❤ “the more patient you are in the 1st set - the more results you’re going to get in the second set.” I am excited to see my full potentiality using this mantra//advice. (potentiality: a word I did not even know existed until now… a philosophy of Aristotle about possibility ❤)
You're so crazy. Love the running blood story. Yoga goals, for sure. Question: I know many students will wonder how to determine how flexible their hamstrings are when given these instructions. Do you have any suggestions for helping them determine that and thus how much to kick in the beginning? i.e. If in a forward fold you can touch your toes then you're flexible, if you can touch mid-shins you're halfway there, and if you can only reach you're knees you are definitely not flexible enough in those hamstrings. (Although the back comes into play here, too, so perhaps should do it on the floor with a flat back?) And then from this determination you can get an idea of what % you should start kicking?
It's really hard to determine how high someone should kick unless I was there in the room with them...Sometimes I'll hold them, guide them into the position....But that's where the practice comes in, everyday is different, everybody is different..Trial & error...Hope that helps!
Hi Jimmy, thank you for your knowledge, one of my goal is to have a standing split in SB but a week ago I popped my right hip in padahastasana (hands to feet pose, after half moon back bend) and now I can’t kick my right leg up as high and can’t pull my right knee down as I used to in wind removal 😢 what should I do?
You’ve got to be patient and let it heal…. I did the exact same thing years ago… I actually heard it pop. Watch this video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9bEsUUnKNYA.htmlsi=wwyXhBs5GipM-udc
Thank you very much for the video, just what I need when I needed it the most. I tried to kick high in SB and now not just the hip but also the shoulder too is bothering me. If I'm not doing anything it's fine but doing yoga trigger some discomforts, your videos helped me to realize I've been focusing on the pose not the body.
on my right side, I struggle to grasp my foot. I flick flick flick it up and eventually can get it... then it takes me a good bit to settle. so I am always starting way behind the class. This is right side only. Alternatively, i found if bend my leg I can reach teh foot. I can then straighten it. This way it takes me less time to settle. What is your suggestion for this learning stage ? Left side, I have no issue grabbing foot. Right side is problem. I am coming back to hot yoga after 6 year break.
Hi Kerry … try grabbing your foot from the OUTSIDE… and then work your way around the inside … it might be easier to grab the foot initially that way! 🤷♂️🤷♂️
