Just a bit of trivia about "The Michigan, I don't know if you are interested. But Mike Legg learned how to do this move from Bill Armstrong while the two trained together in London, Ontario. Armstrong actually did it 6 times in the AHL and IHL before Legg did it at the University of Michigan. Plus Armstrong did it two more times after that too. And, Go Leafs Go!!!!!

I can do the “scoop up” the puck pretty consistently but “dig under” is tougher Do you think the thinner blade would help ?
@ChineseChums
@ChineseChums 2 года назад
I personally think it shouldn't matter too much. I just use standard CCM sticks like the Trigger and Super Tacks. As long as you're slicing the puck while it's moving with momentum, it should work. Just takes practice! -Justin
@Jakuby21
@Jakuby21 2 года назад
What curve do you use? I find that certain curves work better for this.
@ChineseChums
@ChineseChums 2 года назад
I use a P29 CCM curve. I think it probably does make a difference, but I've only ever used this curve.

Cool trick. Ever tried doing it while skating straight at the goal? Go to the left side to draw in the goalie, then dump the puck in the top right corner.
@ChineseChums
@ChineseChums 2 года назад
Haha it’s something I’ve thought about but never attempted at full speed. I’ve tried something similar where I come in on the right side and cut to the middle, pick up the puck while spinning around and aiming for top right

So I practiced the michigan and got some consistency on my shooting pad but a problem I encountered on the ice is that over time my blade gets wet from snow and ice and I can't gain traction on the puck. Any solutions?
@ChineseChums
@ChineseChums 2 года назад
If you haven’t already, I suggest using wax to prevent snow buildup on the blade. You’ll have to consistently keep wiping the snow off throughout a game to keep your blade dry. If you’re trying this when the ice is already roughed up, you’ll have to pull the puck in with more speed so it can ride up onto the blade. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any more questions! :)
@benxvariety8878
@benxvariety8878 2 года назад
@@ChineseChums I didn't realize wax prevented the buildup. Thanks for the tip! I got a game tonight and I'll be sure to put some on.

how is it that you puck flippers make this look so easy....been trying this for years..still can't get it...anyways i'm going to try it again today as i'm about to go play shinny now....but before game starts of course

Haha just takes a lot of practice. I started last year with hockey tiles during the pandemic and then made some adjustments to make it work on ice. Haven't done it in a game yet though. Good luck to you! - Justin

Do you recommend wax doing it off ice?
@ChineseChums
@ChineseChums 2 года назад
If you're just practicing on tiles I don't think it's really necessary. I think wax mainly helps on ice because it stops your blade from getting wet, which helps the puck stay on.

Donno why, but the only time I can catch the puck is when the puck flips and settles on the blade
@ChineseChums
@ChineseChums 2 года назад
If the puck flips onto the stick, it’s probably because you’re pushing up into the puck. You want to try slicing under the puck instead so it ramps onto your blade. Hope that helps!

How do you avoid getting destroyed by a bored/ disgruntled defenseman that is sick of this candy-ass parlor trick and plays your body and/ or slashes your stick as you emerge from behind the net?
@ChineseChums
@ChineseChums Год назад
Realistically, you can't so you need to be smart when trying to attempt this. The problem is that so many people try this move now that defenders are ready to defend it.
@raykinsellas9089

Any Loser who ever attempts this, "DURING A GAME".... should get a MOUTH FULL of LUMBER! Ya...Its FUN Move at Practice, or while Skating in some Girls League, but....REAL MEN, don't do this kind of CRAP in a Game. A CROSS CHECK to the Mouth, and a Few Visits to the DENTIST, should put a STOP this Gay Pride Parade Shit! Pathetic!
