Gratitude for consistently intelligent coaching. This vid begins by teaching the player to center their vision between the past and the future and ends by stressing order of operations. Detailed observation + abstract thinking yields lessons delivered with obtainable analogy & correlation = “you can’t unsee it.” WTG

Me 1,000 times over because our team didn’t do position specific drills often. I was a very offensive defenseman, and usually would skate the puck all the way up, and most of our wingers never understood or learned to fall back to cover my position until I made my pass in front of the net from behind the goal where I’d then swoop back up to the blue line all in one motion. But our starting 2 lines were good enough to win 1st or 2nd in the league every year. Can’t wait to get back on the ice in the upcoming weeks, and watching dozens of videos to get back some knowledge, and researching all the new gear, tricks, and tips we didn’t have when I stopped playing. I turn 33 this April and stopped after high school because I was drinking heavily and doing drugs every day ( pills, acid, shrooms etc ). Wasted half my life getting wasted. We didn’t have many options where I grew up after high school, and our area only gave out 1 sometimes 2 scholarship a year for hockey between 15-20 teams or so, and most of us were poor af, and had to fundraiser money to pay the fees to play. Our high school team wasn’t even recognized as a team until my senior year which is why they allowed us advanced players to play on the varsity team while in Jr high unlike the more wealthy districts and schools. My life advice is never start drinking, don’t do drugs, and practice your asses off every chance you get.

Do you have a video helping with receiving a puck and the first step to getting moving once you’ve gained possession.. for example if a pass comes between my legs while im standing still feet apart.. sometimes those passes tie me up and I end up simply coughing it up or fumbling long enough for the opposing player to just pick it right from under me
@Train2point0

I'm sure it's posture related, you will want to focus on the 5 pillars and go from there. If you're interested, we can take a look at your video if you want to sign up as a member.

I think you should start scanning with your eyes before you get the puck it’s like you said one fluid motion perivaral vision is good to learn

What about the scissoring mohawk Cale does? It's more than just a 10 & 2.
@Train2point0
@Train2point0 Год назад
Terminology can be different across hockey communities and countries. Just need a name to identify the movement so it's teachable. This is just a simple How to video for RU-vid covering the basics, but we have a whole series on how to walk the blueline like Makar for 2.0 defensemen members on our website.

Yeah, the scissoring movement is not a classic 10 and 2, but it's actually easier because it's a less extreme mohawk. Your legs aren't as wide open. I teach this to my hockey team kids. You can practice this drill by skating a circle and keeping your front leg pointing forward around the circle and only doing smaller c-cuts, barely leaving the ice. The back leg scooter pushes so it's at least 90 degrees to your front skate. Then you just push around the circle. As you get better you can open the back foot more, put more weight on it, and turn it into more of a classic mohawk c-cut positioning. With some practice it will become that scissor mohawk because the back leg is moving more (pushes and large c-cuts) and the front foot is moving less (smaller c-cuts). Hope this helps in some way.
