Whether you are new to bead work or an old hand, you can still be caught out by the step up and end up with strange misshapen pieces. I explain exactly what a step up is and show you how to do it. It’s simple once you know!

Thank you for distinguishing between circles and spirals - never thought of it that way before

Yes, I'm glad to have helped. And understanding it this way will help when considering beading squares, triangles and many other shapes. It's easy when you get it. Thank you for watching and commenting

I could have done without the how not to do it and just the how to. Still confused. But thank you.

Hi, the step up is a tricky thing to learn at first, but once you get it, you will wonder why you had any problems at all! Think about going all the way around through each bead and then go through the first one you added on the row you have just completed. Then you will be ready to start the next row. I hope that helps. It’s also tricky to explain! Thank you for watching

Hello, thank you for your question. You might be able to follow along with this video - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vUe9IoI6KK8.htmlsi=e2jZ1YDx3kp0rMw7, however I do plan to do a better video on this, with much better close ups.

how do you read the circular graphs ?

Hello, thanks for your question. I am right handed so the thread is travelling counter clockwise in the circles. Imagine that the blue wiggly line is the thread with the needle on the end. The blue dashes represent the thread going around. Remember it is not a spiral, it is a complete circle with a step up to the next row. I hope that helps.
