Is not the flick the same as the roll?

First video I've seen of yours, but I love how you relate pickleball shots to table tennis ones. Haven't been playing PB long, but you're the first person I've found who teaches via TT

I have a 2000 level Table Tennis backhand ... I need to learn how to translate it to Pickelball. This tip was intuitive... I just need the reps.

Great lesson. This is a shot I've thought about developing and now this video. Looking forward to putting that in my game. Thanks. I've been doing this now for only 2 short weeks and my game has come way up. I not only use it as you describe, but when I'm at the net and the ball comes to me, I use the backhand roll all the time, it gives the ball extra pop and speed taking away the opponent's time, frequently it's winners. Also what I've noticed is I can hit the ball hard with a backhand roll and the ball will drop in just short of the back line. This one lesson has been a big improvement to my game. Ben John's mentions no wrist break in his backhand roll unlike you, but I've found doing it like you works best for me. I will say though my grip at the net is not a continental grip, because it changes both for the backhand and forehand roll.

Which grip is being used in this video?

Can you do a video on the Ben Johns backhand topspin dink (which he does with a cross over step). I know how to do the slice version... i just haven't figured out how he puts topspin on the same stroke.

where is this facility? i love how it's combined pickleball with table tennis at the end! so wish we could do that here in Bend, Oregon.

The table tennis backhand works great at the net . It doesn't work ,real well , for deep backhand shots 😁 . I see you don't use a table tennis grip on your pickleball paddle...
