In this video we give key tips for playing against Good Bangers. Good bangers are those players which can hit top spin consistently, make it almost impossible to play against them. They may have one shot, but they're pretty good at it.

I lost to many good bangers ALL THE TIME. They don't ever dink. They drive all balls. Feel so tired to have to block them at the kitchen line and frustration at the same time. I need to master what you teach here. Thank you.

Clifford- to me, you provide the absolute best pickleball videos- you've made my game improve immensely because of your backhand paddle positioning. Sensational! Thank you.

I find stepping back slightly from NVZ defending/ blocking/resetting a prolific banger allows my return ball to have higher chance to drop lower into their kitchen and straight away take away any chance for bangers to continue to hit hard and if they continue that pace, just be ready to let it go out as it will be going from low to high or hit the net. Apply a medium grip and chopping ball slightly to soften the pace helps to take pace off contact and higher chance to dropping it into NVZ with no chance of an attacking it. But be aware bangers will still find it fun to attack your body as hitting your person is the next best target. Ger ready to block or let it pass.

Very helpful content! Cliff, I'm from a table tennis background too and I'd love to hear you teach more about how to attach from the kitchen line.

Good video. I like the comparison to table tennis, and have often felt that just blocking the drive is too weak a response.

I got a 16mm CFS Joola and it came to me at 8.7 oz and felt a bit heavy at first but feels fine once I got used to it. It is very solid and I would rate it very strong on pop, feel and spin. With that paddle in my hand it almost makes me feel bad for the people on the other side of the net sometimes.

Interesting you use table tennis as an example. I am taking up the sport to help my PB game (also it's over 100 deg out every day) thanks for the video.

Cliff I see you are using a Joola. What makes it better in your opinion? I see you also have some lead tape on the lower half. How much does your paddle weigh now?

@Jim Waldemarsen I like it a lot I want to love it. It exceed for me on the resetting side, the push on my blocks and servers are just amazing, for the rest like the spin, control I have seen better. Those things are exactly what was missing on my game, so I'm gonna give it a try. I would say the paddle isn't for everybody, but I can feel if you come to master it, it would be a great tool.

So I am 2000 rated table tennis player and I am going to start playing Pickle Ball this week. Which specific skills do you think will transfer?

Soft hands for some shots and overall placement will come naturally for you. You will progress at dinking very quickly.

Forehand ground stroke, backhand counter, and short volley strokes both sides will come quickly if you have a conventional game without pips out rubber.

I aways wondered why if at an offensive position at the net why do a defensive block? Most all blockhead PBall instructors teach that. I always laugh at those who have one hand holding the top of the paddle, taught to them by an instructor!
@26realmc
@26realmc 2 года назад
Well you’re clearly only going to do a defensive block if that’s all you have time for. If you have more time you’re more aggressive.
@godgunsandgoldens
@godgunsandgoldens Год назад
@@26realmc Yes, depending on speed and placement of the ball coming at you blocking might be best first shot to do. You don’t have to hit a winner right away. Get control of the point first.

if only that pickleball paddle has a surface like in a table tennis rubber, it would be a lot easier for me to bang or to use topspin attack consistently.
@godgunsandgoldens
@godgunsandgoldens Год назад
Yes, and it would be another reflex sport for athletes like table tennis and tennis. Pickleball would not be exploding like it is. The seeming simplicity draws people in and before they realize the complexity of it and there’s always something to learn and improve on it’s too late they are hooked.

Why are all the bloggers implying that there is something wrong with a pickler than can drive the ball well? I haven’t yet discovered the successful player with only a soft game.

And what exactly is his strategy against bangers? ..He's saying don't block it? Uh, that's precisely what you want to do....Lol.

I thought he was saying to block it hard into their feet-in order to beat bangers.
@susiewyrick4256

Hit hard at their feet to make them uncomfortable. Also harder to drive it back

#1 let their balls go out #2 anticipate the shot and block it at their feet.

He means punch that ball back to the banger even harder at their feet.
@Scott-sm9nm

Not 100% what the skill being taught here was as the blocker was *pushing* forward hard instead of just tilting his paddle and letting it bounce off with a light hand grip so it would drop in the kitchen.
