This video is showing how to replace a engine coolant temperature sensor in a 2006-2011 Honda civic 1.8L engine 8th generation civic. It shows how to install both upper and lower sensors. One sensor is on the upper intake and one sensor is located on the bottom of the radiator.
If your engine is over heating and your fans are not coming on it could be a bad coolant sensor.
I hope this video helps you out. Thank you for watching and please don't forget to like the video and subscribe. May God bless you.

Fantastic video and instructions. As per space for 17mm : in Civic 2010 I had no issues at all . Very easy . In addition I change R3 relay because it was sticky. Thank you. You are the only one who said that this bottom sensor is responsible for starting fan. Mine was working when AC was on but did not start otherwise.

I'm going through the same thing with my 2007 Honda Civic LX. Crazy annoying!!! And expensive. I'm so tired of buying coolant and overheating constantly. This is my next project. Thank the Lord there are people like him that help people like us!! I truly hope you've had success with your vehicle.

@the_return024 might vary by year, location and engine size. Sometimes cars have to be localised, or sometimes there are little kinks ironed out over the years of a model's run, the info you can only (in theory) find in the manual or online

Looks very similar to my CRV of the same generation, they're based on the civic chassis so hopefully the process is the same. I can't for the life of me find the top sensor

I’m haveing same problem ac also not working when it’s over heat it will happend ?
@lettherebelightchannel1335
@lettherebelightchannel1335 3 года назад
I think it can cause the AC to feel like it's not working because the radiator and engine is so hot it's only getting hot air for the AC to work with. But I am not certain. Hopefully that's all it is for you

@lettherebelightchannel1335 3 года назад
Yeah I had the same trouble. It's different part numbers but my auto sales guy could not figure out which one was up or down. Sorry I can't help you more. I am not sure the actual name of them. I know they were temperature coolant sensors but one controls the gauge and I think the bottom one controls the coolant fans sensor. Sorry not sure the technical names.

looked like your lower temp sensor lost its o-ring. I didn't see one on it when you took it out. but.... in order to find that and fish it out you might need some dental tools lol. maybe flushing more water through with the drain plug in could force water out of the temp sensor hole to push out that o-ring?

If you are able to get a code it will tell you. If it shows Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor 2, then it's the bottom one.

For the socket, you can get ones which are specifically designed for tight spaces like this, where they have flat or hexagonal edges to grip and turn with a spanner. Not sure if that'll help. I used a similar such one for removing my motorcycle's front nut, which features a ridiculous giant hex-bolt which requires me to put a 20mm hex key into the hole, then put a socket over that, then have a foot long wrench to get enough leverage onto that using my body weight to get the bastard off. Don't buy chinese bikes.
