I have a question: how to quickly switch between steam mode and desktop mode? Can I run programs like discord webrowser etc and swith to run steam mode but still able to use apps in background that I run in desktop mode?
@@bryan199234bs Maybe your mood is better when you are done puking ^^ I am sorry but I know some people, that have something going wrong with their life what makes them go and troll around in youtube by giving completely pointless answers that would only be reflecting the same emptyness in sense than their life does. Which is really sad because it is basically the thing that they are trying to cover and hide... I hope this is not such a situation. So I just hope you are bored or have a bad day.
@@mr.furious.the.animator I see some people make their names. So I shall write comments that are totally full of sense like the one you just did? As you see in the comments over it. Thanks for this! I’ve been looking for a video about the docked experience and yours seems to be the only one. I’m getting my deck this week and I’d like to play rts games like AoE with the mouse and keyboard so this was a good video to see 😊👍🏻
Thank you for watching! AoE will work fine with the deck when it’s docked. You don’t need to plug in a monitor if you didn’t want to but may struggle to find all your villagers 😅
@@TechNuovo While I know it's just Linux, if you could do a tour of Steam OS docked (maybe even some tips & tricks, how to install programs, etc.) that would be nice
Freaking finally. Thanks a bunch! Dyson sphere wasn't letting me do middle scroll button camera rotate. Didnt know steam interface is more for deck controls and now makes sense to be in desktop mode.
This is such good information. I’ve been saving up for a PC but after taking the time to learn more about the Steam Deck it’s looking like a more affordable alternative. Especially if I get a good monitor since ultimately my goal is to play more classic old games that are truly PC only in the Steam library. And I also learned the unsupported mark is quite misleading since I’ve seen several games that were unsupported play on the Deck nicely.
What's that 2nd cord you used to connect to the monitor? Do I have to buy a 2nd cord? Or does the USB c hub come with a 2nd cord to connect to the monitor? Or did you completely unplug the monitor cord from the tower to connect to the USB C hub?
I got a 14 in one dock by ABIWAZY and i also have a problem with plug and play. I tried plugging in the hub in game mode and then switching to desktop but for some reason its not even detecting my monitor. What do i do? (Everything is plugged into a power source)
I would try going into the settings of the games you are playing and lowering the sensitivity that way. I cannot recalll if there's a global sensitivity for mouse control.
For the most part yes, but certain AAA games will struggle due to lack of performance. One of my friends does play the likes of GTA V, Red Dead etc on their Steam Deck without issue. Just have to play them at low graphical settings.
does the keyboard and mouse need to support linux? or any generic keyboard and mouse will do? i am mostly interested in wireless or bluetooth mouse and keyboard. do you recommend a specific usb c hub?
Any mouse and keyboard should work, doesn’t need any specific requirements. We linked the Alogic we’ve been using but it’s a little expensive, there are cheaper hubs
@@TechNuovo what keyboard and mouse are you using? Does the keyboard RGB lights sync well with the Deck for playing games and possibly music? I’m getting my deck on Friday.
Cool video. Does the Deck charge while connected to a monitor? Cause I read online that it doesn't, and that's kind of a deal breaker for me, personally.
I'm trying to pair an old Anker A7726 over bluetooth, but I'm having no luck. Any ideas why? Edit: Got it working, but only from Desktop Mode. Wouldn't pair in Big Picture.
Does FSR Scale to hardware or scale to whatever it is set to in software? For example if I had a dock in my living room to a 4k TV Will it try to scale to 4k or can i set it to 1080p
if you press the 3 dots on the right you have an option for FSR scale and the device says it supports up to 4k res in the description on amazon so going by that then yes? lol
Thank you (: Btw your set up with the usb hub can you do the same for tvs as well? I’m wondering if the steam deck will be able to work on 3rd party docks too?
Hi! Yes, it'll work on TV's, anything with with a HDMI in will display your deck screen. If companies such as Dbrand make a 3rd party dock similar to the official Steam one, yeh, it will 100% work and in 6 months time, there will be a few to choose from!
Does Anybody have that Issue wich its Everytime you try to connect or use your Keyboard and Mouse on the Steam Deck, it Disconnects while they are plugged in?
I don't understand what the point of the dock is. If you're hooking up to a monitor anyway, then why do you need a stand? You can just set the deck down like a mini PC. Might as well buy a much cheaper, compatible USB-C hub even when the dock is released.
@@Sn00ze Yeah, because a handheld that's basically a mini PC with a built-in gamepad and display that has way more performance than an entry level $400 laptop is basically the same thing.
@@TechNuovo Oh for sure. I just can't justify it at $50 if a cheap hub works. I guess that's a big if though, with the reports of some brands bricking steam decks.
As long as slobs can be installed onto Linux you won't need a monitor. If you're wanting to capture Steam Deck visuals, then you'll generally need an external capture card.
i can’t seem to be able to connect my keyboard cable to the usb hub i bought, whenever i connect it to the hub the monitor stops projecting the steam and goes black, what could i do to solve this :(
what i wanted is to capture the screen of the deck just like i do with my switch, for streaming, instead of using it as another computer on its own, how do i do that? or i need a capture card like switch
when you plug your keyboard and mouse in to the steam deck do you need to switch to desktop mode when you're not using the monitor. I tried to plug it and it does not work however the xbox one controller works great when playing Marvel spiderman. I was trying to use the keyboard and mouse for ghost runner. Let me know thank you.
It doesn't matter how i configure my display on my monitor, it always has a lot of zoom in the screen, anyone does know how i can fix it? ( it just happens on Desktop mode)
Looks like the dock mode isnt ready yet. I tried myself but had to give up. Controllers setting was a mess (xbox 360) and when i downscale my 4k tv to 1920x1080, the image is cropped. But when i do it with my other computers, it work fine.
Yes you can! On the Linux desktop, you need to go settings, display, select 'laptop' or your deck and untick enable, hit apply. You deck screen will then turn off but your monitor will stay one.
So I put windows on the Steam deck does anyone use this hub and while using it it charge at the same time or not. I have a awsome hub but it wont charge the my Steam deck. Any suggestions?
Thanks for the video. I am having an audio issue with my steamdeck. As soon as I dock it and it connects to the tv I lose sound, is there a way to fix this?
@@TechNuovo I figured it out, just go to the game settings in Steam before booting it, now I'm struggling on changing the display to 60hz. I turn down the res on my TV, but it won't let me bump up the hz.
@@Jandro1083 that depends on the USB dongle and HDMI dongle you're using. That'll dictate the Hz refresh. Plus most TVs run at 60Hz too remember unless you've got a newer TV at 120Hz.
@@TechNuovo I got it to work one day somehow, but it made the tool bar disappear, now I fixed the toolbar issue, but it's back to 30hz. It's so frustrating.
Is Steam Deck for ME a good option for an entry level PC setup? Devices I own: Samsung Galaxy A7 tablet Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 iPhone XS Max Nintendo Switch V2 I like the SD card thing so that's a plus, but I'm worried Steamdeck is a Lil underpowered. Thinking of getting a computer monitor or 15" tablet. Given that the max is 1.5 TB with SD, Steamdeck is a costly option & worth getting or not? I started using the internet in 2017 so forgive my computer illiteracy
As a PC, you’d probably be better off spending nearly the same amount for a desktop PC for light gaming. If you want that portability option, then occupational docking, the deck will be awesome.
@@TechNuovo what about high end tablets and laptops. I don't do much other than make music, I just started using the internet 5 years ago as i think I said
What annoys me is I have a dock, I use it to connect my work laptop to my 2 monitors, as well as keyboard and mouse into a usb switch and it does not see this. However the Steam Deck does see my PC on the same network. I connected a Bluetooth connector to my PC and the steam decks sees this and states Keyboard & Mouse but it alas does not work
I'm gonna use this whilst I'm. "working". just got a steamdeck to play POE on quiet nightshifts, but will need a mouse and keyboard or it will feel super clunky
@@TechNuovo A USB-C 5-in-1 Multifunction Adapter I have the steam deck docked and connected along with the HDMI connected to the dock and to the monitor. Once I do all this nothing happens, but it appears to work with a TV just fine for some reason.
i dont know why your deck wont output in gaming mode, i use a cheap usb c dock and its plug and play for everything, it's probably your usb hub thats your issue 🎊
64g? Come man.. 64gb is an insult imo from Valve. They know the market they were selling to. Gabe says he was "surprised" the top end model sold more than twice the 64gb model. NO SHIT...
Gabe's gotta keep that cost down somehow 🤑 but I agree. 64GB is tiny for modern gaming so you're forced into either upgrading later down the line to a bigger SSD or memory cards.
I thought is was a joke at first also, but the $400 option puts the device in so many more people hands. Then save up for a $150 .5T micro SSD, Bob's your uncle. (full disclosure I bought the 512 GB)
@@kevinkraftable I mean being a pc gamer I personally agree. I cannot do controllers. Maybe I'm just sour that 'roller players get some decent aim assist in Apex. 😭😭 Or.maybe I'm just too old now to keep up with other players? 🤔🤔
