Jalen Brunson has been a big part of the New York Knicks successful season. In this film breakdown, we'll go through some keys as to why Jalen Brunson is so good as un undersized point guard. His ability to change pace, finish floaters, hit fadeaways, and other tough jump shots, and some of his physical qualities allow him to score the basketball at a very high level and helps him be a great playmaker on the court.

He has incredible footwork to go along with his finishing, top notch use of pump fakes as well

I just don't get why my coach thinks it's weak to fade in the paint, Jalen brunson be doing this and it works

He prolly just uncomfortable with it because it’s more of a pro or a big man move. I don’t know your size tho. A lot of lower level coaches just want there bigs aggressive to the basket. But to get them more comfortable with your shots in that area try to get to a floater more often than the turnaround. That way if you stop on one pump the float turn and fade it looks more like a second option.

Because a lot of players especially young ones don’t fade assertively they just do it because they’re scared of contact

One thing you forget to mention is Jalen’s basketball IQ, Top Level!

I think another big part of Jalen’s game that makes him dangerous is his footwork in traffic and in the paint. You often see him go into the paint and stop on the dime in the paint, pump fake to get the defender off balance or in the air then step-through layup or hit a leaner/floater over defenders. A lot of times over 7 footers. His handle, footwork and his 3-level scoring makes him very unpredictable to defend.

Hi, when i play i feel like i have a hard time with court awareness and focussing on more than one player. How do you view the court? Great breakdown again!

get rid of tunnel vision by looking up when dribbling (especially when practicing). a good drill is dribbling freestyle while someones in front of u showing numbers on their hands and u have to say the number out loud. really any drill that distracts you from looking down while dribbling will be effective. hope this helps

Make sure to slow down physically and mentally and do things at your own pace. The reason you have trouble processing multiple things on the court isn’t because of lack of talent, it’s because you are too rushed in your mind!

Best thing you can do is play more and watch more. Play as much 5 on 5 as you can. Also watch as much basketball as possible. Watch more full games (college, NBA) and also watch specific players and try to study what makes them successful and what they do in different situations. You’ll start to notice some of those things when you play. And then continue to play as much as possible and eventually you’ll start to have a better sense of court awareness!

Would you consider more mass to be a key or just core strength and overall strength?
@VisionDrivenBasketball
@VisionDrivenBasketball Год назад
I would say it’s a combination of all that. Strength is definitely the most important thing, not necessarily mass, but a lot of times mass comes along with strength. If you struggle because you aren’t big enough to handle contact, then you might need to put on some mass.

He’s not really “undersized” as far as height for a PG he’s 6’0 some say 6’1 basically same size as Chris Paul his only disadvantage is his length arms ain’t that long and he’s not that explosive athletically but he makes up with it with elite footwork,fundamentals,and shot making
