For the first time in 30 years I find myself looking at PCs. Apple have gone from making operating systems that were lean and mean, to being the bloatware kings.
From a fellow injun, I thank you brother. This really helped me out. Catalina is trash in every conceivable way, I wish I’d read some reviews before I updated the OS...won’t make that mistake again. It’s good to be back to Mojave.
Just adding my voice to the long list of people in the comments to say thank you for this video. It worked perfectly and I'm now enjoying Mojave once again on my MacBook. Thanks, Jinu!
Spent so much time on this downgrade as I never did any full on back up. Was praying every step of the way. You are a STAR! Thank you for saving me!! Honestly I almost got a heart attack when I found out the amount of apps I couldn’t use with Catalina. One again, big thank you. Now just hope the back up goes according to a plan as well 😂
Any tips on how to install my old profile back now? How to run the back up when my Mac data is still on computer and takes lots of space (hence it doesn’t allow me to run the back up due to shortage of space). Should I erase and delete the Mac data completely since I have the backup?
This worked!!!! thank you so much! I thought I was stuck on terminal copying to USB, but it just take a while. Now I am running on Mojave and installing games :)
I managed to do this last night from watching this video. Thank you so much! I recently upgraded to Catalina but Adobe Photoshop didn’t work and I never knew that would happen. Now it’s works fine with Mojave. Really clear instructions, thank you!
Dear Friends, If you are facing any issues related to Mac you can type in the comment box and i will try to find out a solution for you. Please don't forget to subscribe my channel.Thank you.
I apologize in advance for my English. I would like to thank you for such an easy and clear tutorial, because in the Russian community it is not easy to explain how to return to the old version. Thank you so much ❤it's amazing
What a genius!!! Thank you so much, Jinu!!! I have a Macbook mid-2012, factory reset it and installed the Catalina. I thought it will not work. But here it is!!! Big big thanks to you!
Very helpful video. I followed your steps and it worked like a charm. Sometimes you have cut the video when the system takes longer so if you’re doing this at home, just wait be patient and let the system finish the job. For example, in the terminal mode or while deleting the disk etc
Hello Jinu! I just wanted to say THANK YOU so much! I have been without Adobe and Office for months! I followed all your instructions. I backed up my computer, downloaded Mojave on a USB and erased the HD. With your easy instruction I was able to put all the pieces back together without missing one file!! Everything works again! Thank you for taking your valuable time to make this video!
Thank you Jinu! This was (to me) a complicated process, but your step by step, clear and explicit instructions allowed me to succeed. I'm so grateful!!
It's 2020 and the problem hasn't yet been solved - clearly it's on purpose so customers buy their newer products. But used or reconditioned 2015 Macbooks are still very sought after
Thanks Jinu...You made my day...the video was so simple to follow and I was successful in downgrading MacOS Catalina to MacOS Mojave...God Bless you...
Thank you for the video tech. It works for me, I have to do it step by step, slowly as you dictated the instruction using another computer. Again thank you, keep up the good work, we need good technician like you.
When restarting the first time ( after 4:40 ) he said "cmd + R" and the second time you restart 5:50 he said "alt" Hhhhhhh I had to check online the commands required because I'm a computer noob and I was hesitant to make potentially wrong moves... Dude knows his shit - IT WORKS - although I had to try 5 times and wait overnight for download etc in the Terminal window. HE DID A SECOND VIDEO for all the people LIKE ME who had messages like "tool old" or stuck at 0% ( that's when I had to wait overnight )
Ah he said press alt? I thought he said press R now I’ve got something different coming up so I hope it goes back to what it’s supposed to, I’m guessing the alt key is the option key?
@@hangyuliu5622 But with that down, his procedure worked - except he did 2 videos ( a second one for those who had error messages like me ) Went really slowly and step by step with it and now I'm happy with my new Macbook Pro 2015
amazing this worked for me perfectly, and thanks for uploading the image on google drive too!!! please make great videos like this. love your accent 👍🏼
I am absolutely livid about Catalina. I mainly use Logic Pro X on my MacBook Air, and from updating to Catalina all but three days ago, on top of what I believe are issues with the battery pack screwing up my touch pad, everything load too slow now and now some previously downloaded 32 bit sounds and plugins won’t work. And it had to happen the last 2 weeks of the semester. Honestly Apple, between your computers getting slower with each “update”, and the hardware along with the battery pack issues, I don’t care what the excuse is. Get your sh*t together.
BRO THANK YOU SO MUCH YOUR A LIFE SAVIOR!!!! I wanted to revert so I could play left 4 dead 2 and I couldn’t do it before but now I can u jus gained a sub!!!! 🔥
WARNING: he neglect to mention the step where you make sure you allow booting from external media. This will result in an error when trying to reboot giving you no options when it comes to the part where you choose Install macOS Mojave. This results in being forced to use the USB drive as your main hard drive and being unable to boot the computer at all without that USB drive connected. To get past this, restarting the computer with no USB connected and holding Command+R until the globe appears. I had to then re-format the internal hard drive again and then choose Reinstall macOS from the utilities menu again, in my case it was osX Mavericks. From there it was an upgrade to Mojave from the link provided in the video. Hopefully the will save you the 7 hours it cost me.
Brilliant tutorial! From this I have managed to successfully downgrade back to Mojave, a couple of added hints once you have installed Mojave onto the Mac it brings you back to the disk start up screen, you need to just carry on with the install, Catalina does mess up the storage on your Mac and installed 88gb of unusable system storage this is recified by a erase of the hard disk(just make sure you have a back up/time machine! Thanks again for the Tutorial!
You put in the USB in once you have restarted the Mac, then you hit Control and R until the disk utility screen displays then you remove the Catalina hard disk as per instructions on the video, then you restart again and hold Alt then the install Mojave on the usb will display then click through and then click install OS on the new disk utility screen and then you click through to reconfig Mojave. Hope this helps! Make sure you download the Mojave OS on your usb first also in the vid
One Punch Man I took out the USB once the Mojave had been installed on the machine, so when I had the homepage up, be wary of the amount of storage that Catalina takes up as mine was 88gb! Also back up your data on time machine so you can retrieve it later
Also make sure that you enable booting through USB beforehand shown on the link:www.imore.com/how-downgrade-macos. A lot of the comments are stating that they get an error displaying "the version of macOs is too old" that is because you are trying to open the OS in Catalina, you need to follow Jinu's great steps to format your USB and then boot the OS through that.
This worked! Thank you Jinu'sTech-Videos. However, once I downgraded Safari was not working with Mojave because it was the Safari from Catalina that was transferred, thus, it was too 'upgraded' for Mojave. The solution to this is a bit tedious but worth it. You must reinstall Mojave, make sure you have everything saved in your external hard drive, then Safari will be up and running. Take care.
Thanks for your input. when you mention to save everything in your external hard drive, does that mean all files on your computer not saved onto hard drive will be wiped during the switch?
Kevin Alvear Just back up your Mac with Time machine and you’re good to go. The reason I mentioned that is to be extra cautious and to make sure your data is saved. You technically have to reinstall the OS system and as this doesn’t usually delete your data, saving it one more time won’t hurt in case something happens.! This is coming from someone that lost everything so now I go by the rule of thumb for backing up “ save your data on AT LEAST 3 external drives.” Take care ✌🏻
Hey... I upgraded to Catalina and everything is INSANELY slow. Like a snail could go around the world and google chrome wouldn't even be up yet. Someone pls help.
Me ajudou bastante no meu Mac o mojave é bem mais estável q o Catalina. Você recomenda o High Sierra para Mac de 2015? Utilizei muito pouco o High Sierra não me lembro se ele é melhor q o MOjave.
I’m so scared 😱 that I’m going to lose everything I just erased my hard drive I’ll update Edit: Didn’t work said something like Mojave damaged 😑. Currently restoring my computer back hopefully it is the same as before I erased the hard drive.
I fixed it on my own (your video doesn’t talk about changing the security to allow you to use an external hard disk) and then when I’m back at disk utility it does not allow me to select (reinstall Mohave) because it says a newer version is already on my Mac HD and I erased everything. Your instructions aren’t faulty.
seokkrrttt when you restart and hold command R when you’re at disk utilities there’s a tab at the top, security settings you change it to medium and to allow external disk on restart.
@@musicallady2528 but wait, the terminal thing was done , but when i pressed on "install macOS mojave" it said "this version is too old to be downloaded" does it matter or can i just straight up restart it without worrying about it ?
hello! Just wanted to ask-- so you say that the usb drive should be empty around 4:00, but aren't we suppose to back up everything in it? or is it what typing in the hard drive in the admin is suppose to do?
How long is it supposed to take to copy the install over to the USB Drive. Mine has taken well over what it did in this video? Unless you had skipped past?
Please help.. when I try to open the Install MacOS app it says “this version of MacOS is too old to be installed on this Mac” And after following all the steps, while restarting the macbook, the Install Mac OS doesn’t show up when I press the option key with the usb drive inserted . Someone please tell me what to do.. thanks
Not working. Every time I try to download Mojave from the app store, it says "This copy of the “Install macOS” application is too old to be opened on this version of macOS."
It's there in my apps but every time I try to open it, I still get the same message: "This copy of the “Install macOS” application is too old to be opened on this version of macOS"
My macbook pro is running very slow after catalina 10.15.5 it went super slow. Takes 3-4 minutes to boot up and very slow to open any application. Dont know if its a hardware issue or software.
Question is will it work if you have never had Mojave before I just got a new Mac so there has never been any other OS other than Catalina, I don’t want to do this and mess up my computer but I definitely don’t like Catalina
I did this, my macbook is now completely damaged. It stays on the apple symbol, the loading bar will load for 75% and my macbook just shuts down and starts the whole process all over again. I regret doing this more than updating to catalina😔
hi, is the back up just security or all the aps, games, programs will be also gone and i will have to be looking downloading all, pretty much everything lost just mojave os applications will stay? thanks
Soon as the media was created, I ejected the USB (to see if that worked first) restarted the mac and followed the rest of the instructions and it worked. So yeah soon as the media is made then take out the USB 🙂👍
@@bea4958 no worries 👍 Hope your macbook is ok now. Since I downgraded i havent had any problems with my mac. Keep getting messages to say it needs an update but I know it's for the Catalina software so I'm staying well away from it
