there are two science instruments have been carried by the satellite (LC9) which are the Operational Land Imager 2 (OLI-2) and the Thermal Infrared Sensor 2 (TIRS-2) for capturing observations of the Earth’s surface in visible, near-infrared, and shortwave-infrared bands and measuring thermal infrared radiation, or heat, emitted from the Earth’s surface, respectively. Landsat 9 has higher radiometric resolution for OLI-2 (14-bit quantization) which allowing sensors to detect more subtle differences
