@Poetic the poet if u go to the end of the video I typed it out on a word document so it's easier to read. Sorry about the lack of visibility, I was very uneducated in editing at the time I made this video lol
THX! You are the first person i could find in a 2 hour search that actually took me through the installation, and didnt just say "DOWNLOAD and then just find it"
Ugh you’re such a life savior I’m relatively new to music making so I was gonna be real upset that I couldn’t use this program but thanks to you I can and it was easy and to the point as well
TNice tutorials man is so good at explanation ...since I have been watcNice tutorialng soft soft tutorials , tNice tutorials is my first ti to really understand it . I love soft
intuition told me this was the only video I needed to fix my problem, and I thank you for your curiosity and patience and sharing the solution with us. not all heroes wear capes
@@Ardntmusic im having another issue serum is in the right folder but when i go into fl studio 21 to add it it says that the folder is empty even tho i know the 64 bit is in the vstplugins folder
Try to re-install everything, or maybe go to xfer records website to see if there's anything you missed while downloading. Everything should be grouped in one folder, I highly suggest you make a VSTPLUGINS folder where your third party plugins are stored for ease of access and control
Hmm. Try to locate that folder by typing it in the file browser and see where it is. If you do find it, move it to a location where u know where it is. Even copy it to your desktop of u have to. If there's hardly anything in that folder and its still not working, maybe delete the folder and make a new one with the same name and location. Let me know if it works!
thank you this worked my question was you didn't tell us it wont save your progress on serum and that there's a time limit of 20 minutes...... over all its cool thanx bro
This must be a new thing! I’ve never heard of this happening till now, that’s sucks that it happened to you, hopefully you’ll be able to figure that out :(
Can you elaborate please? Where did not find it? Plugin scan? Folder? Also if u haven’t u need to create that folder “ C:vstplugins” if you already don’t have it maybe before attempting to install serum into it. Also if you got it off splice, try to uninstall and reinstall. I had to do this a couple times.
@@Ardntmusic Hello mate, just to notify you, I manage to resolve the issue by viewing another video that I believe had a similar problem, but am also now trying to find and configure every single preset for different plugins that my FL Studio has. What I mean by this is, when I select a plugin, it loads, but then I select a certain preset(s) and press any keys, no sound is made. So IF you happen to make another video based on this, or have done already, be sure to inform of how to resolve. In addition, if you have been producing music for however long, maybe we can try create something together, my YT is "BLXZE", very simple. Let me now if you are interested.
@@blxze360 hey thanks for the update. It seems like certain presets are misplaced or not in the right folder for specific plug-ins. It’s a headache but either uninstall and reinstall those plug-ins, or you can go to your file explorer and try to locate and organize/group them into the right folders. Also yeah, I’m down! Follow me on ig: @blitzermusic and we can talk there about collabing!
@@Ardntmusic Have you got a piece of software completely free called "Parsec" (Software that allows any users (no matter who) the ability to control another user's device (with given consent ofc))?
Omg I see "serum!!!!" In my new VST folder. How in the hell did you figure this out? I tried it like 4 years ago and gave up. I can't believe they still don't have a tutorial, you need a huge thank you from serum. I'll be back once I get it actually running, wish me luck!
2 hours later almost gave up again. IT WORKSSSS. I installed it in local disk-x86-vst. The one thing you must do is click on "find installed plugins" at the top left of plugin manager and you can try unclicking verify plug-ins. It would not show up until I clicked on "find installed plug" in and I didn't need to restart fl.
Honestly I don’t really remember how I figured it out but like you I was on the verge on giving up! I’m glad it finally worked for you, go make some 🔥 music!!! That’s interesting that you had to uncheck verified plug-ins, and you’re absolutely right, Xfer records need to have a better setup wizard. Thanks for the feedback!
After lots of trial and error I finally managed to install Serum in FL Studio. The problems started when I opened Serum in the channel rack and instead of showing the actual synth (like what happened in this video), the plugin went black and it said "Please select a valid "Serum presets" folder in the window about to appear." I clicked the "ok" button, it automatically opened my downloads, and I clicked the folder clearly labelled "Serum Presets." I tried to open it and said that it wasn't a valid preset folder. Idk what's happening but this is driving me crazy and I would love some help figuring this out
I think I’m what you’re talking about. Try to uninstall and reinstall serum but make sure you install everything to one dedicated folder including the presets. You may find their is a separate thing you have to install for the presets so look on the website where ever you bought it. Then try again. Also if you find the preset folder, I think you can drag and drop manually into serum near the save button at the top. I could be wrong though. Hope this helps!
@@Ardntmusic That didn't work unfortunately. I mirrored what you did in the video, and everything was fine until I tried to load the file onto the plugin manager. I could not find it. I copied the file path as shown in the video. It's just not there for whatever reason
@@johnnyboy06 ok maybe try this. If u can locate the serum presets folder, I want you to to search paths in the far right side of fl studio. There should be a +folder button or something and it will have folder search paths like the plugin manager. Select the serum presets folder. And press scan or ok. After that you may have to restart FL. Then go back in look for the folder on the right side, it should be a library full of selected and scanned folders. This is usually for samples. If you can’t find it, use the bottom search bar to type in keywords and it’ll auto detect any folders within those keywords. Then try to open serum. If you can try dragging a dropping a preset from the library to serum itself. You may have insert every preset manually if this works but it’ll be worth it. If this doesn’t work, I’m sorry I’m not sure how else I can help :( also make sure fl is updated to the newest version, that could also be a problem.
Thanks for all your help! It is much appreciated. Sadly, I think my computer is just not going to make it work. I reinstalled serum multiple times, but it didn’t work. Then I discovered that the “serum presets” folder being repeatedly downloaded was a 1 KB file (which seemed wrong) that, when opened, was empty. So basically I’m downloading empty preset folders, but idk why
@@johnnyboy06 yeah you’re welcome! Man that sucks, I’m sorry you’re still dealing with problems. 2 other things you can try are to search for serum fx online as a third party or bootleg file (be careful about downloading viruses though) or you can directly contact xfer records and see if they can help in customer support or something!
I'm not 100% sure you need all the files or components for fl studio. Generally, plugins will have different versions of files for compatibility (vst. aax, etc.) And will group it all into one download able package/file. It just makes it easier to download the whole thing than rather pick and choose your specific file. You may not need to have every component, but if your worried about space, it really shouldn't take up a whole lot anyways. Hope this helped.
When i do the add folder button (adding the serum.dll file to fl) it just doesn't show up but when i look in to the folder manually, it is there, any tips ? i did all right in the video but it just doesn't appear
Are u adding the folder that serum is in or the actual program serum.dll? You may want to try moving "serum.dll" and all the other contents included with downloading Serum into one folder and then moving that folder around to different folders Fl can scan. Lmk if this helped😶
Did you make sure FL Studio is scanning or looking for the vstplugins folder?? It's should come up after the scan. If it still doesn't show up, try to create a new vstplugins folder and reinstall and scan. Hope this helps:)
When I tried to download it, there wasn't even a download folder that automatically popped up for the 32-bit download. I instantly got stuck. What folder do I pick?
Hmm. If u can create a vstplugins folder and send future plugins like serum in that one folder you'll be able to keep then all in one place for ez access. Doesn't matter if it's 32 or 64bit imo, just keep them both in the same folder and it should work. Make sure when your scanning for new plugins, you select vstplugins as a searchable folder so FL can read it. Hope that works! 😁
Did you download it off splice or at xfer records, or a third party website? I don't think I'm ever come across a serial number. Guessing you bought it full price which I didn't so it's a bit different. Let me know if you still need help!
If u downloaded it from Splice u can go directly to Splice and update it. If downloaded elsewhere, go to the website you got it from and login. You should be able to manage your plugins including serum to update it.
So if u bought serum through xfer then you should've received an email with the serial number. If u got it through splice like I did, try reinstalling the plugin or update it through the apps and plugins tab of spilces home page. Hopefully that helps! If u got it cracked, I can't help you there, u might have to use a different crackers version.
It works for me however when I go to my channel rack and press plugins I cant even find a synth folder. However when I press f8 to see the thumbnails of my plugins I can literally see it and run it. I'm so confused
So I've actually had this problem before. When u search for new plugins, after its finished scanning, look for what ever plugin that is new and press the "star" or favorite button when the plugin is finished scanning. I do this for every 3rd party plugin bc if I don't, I won't find it in my channel rack inserts. Lmk if this worked!
Bro I’ve tried 30 times to install this it keeps giving the could not find tables sub folder. I have it installed no problem on my MacBook but can not get it on my windows computer I don’t understand why windows is so trash
Try locating where exactly the wavetables for serum are located on your PC. Once you locate where it was downloaded, then you can tell FL to search that path. Or you can move wherever you have it downloaded to the vstplugins folder I showed, so you have everything in one folder to scan.
When i open a Flp project and has serum bass, i see an error "cant find serum pressets you want, the last destination was on "effect chain" folder! But i don't have that folder.. Sory for my English!🙏
So if you look at the top, look to the right of the bpm box. There should be 10 squares with icons. You probably have the left bottom one activated in which it's probably highlighted orange. Click it to deactivate as it means it turns your keyboard into a midi controller. Hopefully that should be it, let me know if that works!
To clarify, look at boxes directly in at the top middle(not the ones on the far right) there should be 2 rows of 5 boxes Stacked on each other. Then you'll see and icon that looks like a mini piano and unactivate it meaning click on it till it doesn't appear orange and turns Grey. For reference look at time marker 3:55 on my screen and you'll see what I'm referring to.
You're good! I think it's C:/vstplugins ( you may have to create a vstplugins folder in your local hard drive C before sending the 64bit to the destination folder. Also after you've done this make sure Fl studio is scanning that folder so it knows where to look for Serum. Lmk if this helps, hope it works!👌
When I tried to download Serum from Splice today, there were no preset destination folders! I had to choose myself... and chose the wrong one and everything got messed up. I will try again tomorrow. But good to know that I'm not the only one struggling with this!
@@yourlittleghost9971 so if you look closely at 1:11 the preset folder destination is the one I highlighted i think. Now thats for the 32 bit. I think for 64 but is when u use the vst plugins folder that I showed about 30 sec later. If that doesn't work make sure you are searching in the right folders when you are in fl studio and in the managing plugins tab. I show later in the video how to do that as well. See if that helps!
If you don’t own serum legally, I can’t help you. Otherwise if you do have it legally they should have sent an email to you or it should be somewhere in your account on the splice or xfer websites. Hopefully this helps :)
I’m not sure. If you can I would try to uninstall serum completely and try reinstalling repeating the process I explained in the vid. Maybe there was a problem or mistake along the installing process. Try adding both files to the vst folder so that everything is one location. And then try scanning after serum is finished installing. Hopefully this helps :)
Yeah so you’ll have to type it manually! No big deal, just type in what’s in the vid. If u can’t read it, further directions should be in the end of the vid! Hopefully this helps ;)
You might need to delete serum completely and try redownloading it to a different destination. Then scan that destination folder when "searching for new plugins" and hopefully that should work.

Ok you can either copy and type the exact location name I had during the video or if that doesn’t help, try copying the 64 bit file location to the 32 bit so they’re in the same location. Let me know if this helped!
Then create a vst plugins folder in your local disk C: so Fl can search for one folder instead of many. Put the 64 and 32 but in the same folder you create and it should work.
